Colorado Wildfire Bake Sale

Welcome to the Colorado Wildfires Bake Sale!!  I appreciate all of you stopping by today.  All of the proceeds will go to Colorado Disaster Relief Fund c/0 Red Cross to help with fire victims.

Colorado has suffered from more than one very destructive fire so far this summer.  The High Park Fire that started on June 9th has destroyed 257 homes, and burned more than 87,000 acres.  It is now fully contained (that does not mean it has actually stopped burning).   On June 23rd, The Waldo Canyon Fire started.  It has destroyed approximately 350 homes, and burned over 18,000 acres.  The Waldo Canyon Fire is now 98 % contained.  Together these fires have cost over $50 million dollars to fight, and the work is not done.

The auction is now CLOSED!!!

This is how it will work:
– There is a minimum bid of $15 on each item to start, and all proceeding bids must be at least $5 higher.
- All bids must be emailed to dinnersdishesanddesserts@gmail.com with the item you are bidding on in the subject line (bids in the comment section will not be counted).
– The sale will go from July 8th at 8 am (EST) to July 9th at Noon (EST).
– Unless otherwise noted, baked goods will only be shipped within the U.S.
– Upon the closure of bidding time, I will notify the winning bidders in order to confirm instructions for payment, and also to retrieve their mailing address for their winnings.  Payment will be made via paypal.
– Winners will also be announced in a new post on Tuesday, July 10th.
– Winning goods will be sent within a week of the bake sale’s end, unless otherwise noted.
– There is a recap of the items up for sale at the end of the post.
– I will update the prices throughout the day.

Raffle Prizes:
– For every $5 that you spend (on a winning bid), you will earn 1 raffle ticket.
– I will use Random.org to pick 3 winners at the close of the auction

  19. Erin,
I’m in Colorado (Greenwood Village; south of Denver metro) and it’s great to see bloggers from all over the country participate in this event…but I had not heard of it. Would you like some more help? I run a local food blogger meetup group and would be happy to get the word out if you would like me to try and get some more donations.

  20. You guys are doing a wonderful job!
    truly proud of you

  21. I’m very inspired by your positive energy and I’m really proud of you Erin!!! Great job! Everything looks so delicious…

  22. Stephanie says:

Wow, everything looks amazing! So sad I wasn’t able to join!

  23. Erin, this is awesome! I’ll be on my computer July 8!

  24. My dad lives in southern Colorado around La Veta Pass. It is a beautiful spot but prone to wild fires. A couple of years ago, he moved everything out of his house and put it in storage in Pueblo because they were told to evacuate. Luckily, the house was not damaged at all. But, as fire season starts up again, I worry. (I wished him a Happy Fourth yesterday and he said they were getting regular afternoon rains! That is good news and those rains should keep the fires at bay.) Would love to participate! What a worthy cause.

  25. So honored to be a part of this awesome fundraiser! Love what you’re doing, Erin!! Let’s raise some money!!!!!!

  26. Can’t wait until the bidding starts, so much fun watching it :)

  27. Also, it will be more than a dozen cookies. It will be most of the batch (or whatever I can hide from The Hubs)! I cannot wait for the bidding wars to begin!

  28. This looks amazing Erin! So happy to be part of it!! :)

  29. I can’t wait to bid! Just need to decide on what :) Can you please tell me how these things will ship? Some seem easily perishable. Awesome if you to put this together. I love Colorado.

    • Everything is shipped by the individual blogger, so I can’t guarantee how they will ship. I know I make sure to do 2 day priority mail, freeze, and include an ice pack. But I don’t know if that is what everyone does. Thanks for your support!

  30. This looks like an amazing bake sale Erin! I am so sorry I wasn’t able to participate. I will definitely be a bidder though :)

  31. So many delicious goodies!! Best of luck with the bake sale! :)

  32. Such a great thing that you’re doing, Erin! Thank you for doing this. Everything looks absolutely amazing, this is going to be a HUGE success! Best of luck, I’ll definitely be bidding to help out the cause and let others know about this as well.

  33. thanks for organizing this Erin! I’m happy to help, thanks for including me!

  34. SO very inspiring! Look at all you’ve done already!!! :)

  35. You are awesome Erin! Everything looks incredible & I’m so happy to be part of this!

  36. Kay Noble says:

This is so wonderful! Living in Colorado Springs, we were fortunate to not have been personally effected by the Waldo Canyon Fire, but my community has been! I can’t tell how much this has touched my heart! Thank you does not even come close to how grateful I am that so many of my favorite bloggers have donated! May you all be Blessed in return!

  37. Okay, after days of debating I think I’ve decided what I’m going after. And I’m going to fight for it! :P

  38. Such a great event and cause!

  39. The Funfetti pound cake sounds amazing! Great event!

  40. Love this!!! Sharing.

  41. All your hard work is going to payoff BIG TIME! This is an amazing bake sale for such a good cause. xo

  42. These are incredible! I’ll share on both FB pages and tweet! YUM!

  43. I love Ramona’s donation with the curry set. Very clever!
I will be checking in to make sure you raise lots of money.

  44. This is a great idea. I bid on events like this and get the goodies sent to my grandchildren. No way a batch of cookies would make it from Australia to Georgia. :)

    Good luck with the effort!

  45. This is a really good thing that you and all of the other bloggers are doing! I’ve placed my bid!

  46. Thanks so much for organizing Erin, everything looks so yummy!

  47. WOW – what an amazing bake sale! i’m still so sad that i couldn’t help out, but it looks like you’ve got a ton of fantastic bloggers + awesome snacks featured. such a worthy cause.

  48. Thank you so much for putting this together!

  49. What a great fundraiser!!!!

  50. Erin, thank you and all those involved with this bake sale for all your efforts in putting this together for those affected by the recent series of wildfires here in Colorado. It really has been a rough couple of weeks for us here in Colorado Springs, some have lost so much, others are still reeling from the experience of facing a firestorm. We have been back home for a week now, yet there are still boxes to unpack and weather to watch in preparation for potential flash flooding. We are grateful for all that was spared and grieved for those that lost their homes–recovery will be a long process, we are thankful to live in such a strong community.
Thank you, again, for your thoughtfulness and generosity.

  51. God Bless everyone for doing this! Praying for everyone affected by the wildfires. Wishing everyone happy bidding!

    Annamaria

  52. This is Wendy from the American Red Cross. Thank you so much! What a neat project.

  53. What an awesome project & what an amazing food community you all are! I’m sorry I just saw this now. Am I too late to bid? Oh my. Anyway, best of luck to all of you. I will try to help RT and spread the word! Cheers to all!

  54. Thank you so much! This was so much fun! I’m so excited. Do you contact us (or the baker) and tell us who to send the money to? Also, when are you drawing for the raffle prizes?

Thanks!!! What an amazing cause and you have done a fantastic job! Thank you for making a difference!

  55. CLOSED!? It’s only 2pm on the left coast! So sorry I missed this terrific idea. Maybe you should organize another? Well done bloggers. :)

  56. Beth Roman says:

Just a suggestion, perhaps some of the items that seemed to have the most bidding going on should be put up again with a fixed price for as many orders as they can take, then you could raise even more money and also, people who lost out on something they might have really wanted would have a chance to purchase it. I for one, would have loved to win the Nutella brownies but got outbid at the last few minutes. If she was willing to make and sell 5 or 10 more batches at a fixed price, I just might buy one (as long as the price was reasonable). Just a thought for next time if there is a next time.

    • That is a great idea!! Maybe I will see what I can put together tonight. I will email a couple people, see if they would be willing to make another batch or 2 to put up for sale.
      Thanks for the idea!
