If you’re a fan of the classic combination of peanut butter and chocolate, then our Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars recipe is sure to become a new favorite! These bars are not only easy to make, but also packed with delicious flavor and a satisfying chewy texture.

These bars are very quick and easy to make, with no mixer required! Just 10 minutes and you can have these in the oven and your house is going to smell absolutely amazing.

Why You’ll Love These Bars

  • No mixer required! Yep, you melt the butter and then you can use a whisk or spatula to make the dough. Super fast and easy, and no special tools to get out or wash.
  • Customizable. This is a very basic recipe that you can play with and make your own. I used semi-sweet chocolate, but you can use any chocolate you like or even mix up the chocolate! Dark and peanut butter chips would be a fun combo. Or add nuts! Really whatever you like.
  • Chewy Perfection. These bars are super soft and chewy with just the right amount of peanut butter. So if you love a chewy cookie and the peanut butter and chocolate combo, you are going to love these!

How To Make Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars

  • Mix. In a bowl mix together the melted butter with the brown sugar, egg, vanilla and creamy peanut butter. You can use a spatula or whisk to mix until it is nice and smooth and well combined.
  • Fold. Add in the flour and baking powder and you want to mix until most of the flour is incorporated, but a few white streaks remaining is fine.
  • Add Chocolate. Add in the chocolate chips and mix until they are just evenly distributed and the flour is completely incorporate. Do not mix too much or your bars won’t be as soft and chewy.
  • Bake. Pour the dough into an 8-inch baking pan and bake for about 25 minutes, until they are dry on the top and a tester comes out mostly clean.
  • Cool. Remove them from the oven and let cool before slicing to serve.

What Kind Of Peanut Butter To Use

This is one of those recipes that you really want to use the commercial brand like Skippy or Jif for. Natural peanut butters tend to separate and your bars won’t be the ideal texture when you bake them.

Peanut Allergies? If you have peanut allergies, you can use something like Cookie Butter or Biscoff Spread in this recipe. If you have a nut butter substitute that is no-stir and does not separate, it should work in this recipe, but I haven’t actually tested it.

Can I Double This Recipe?

Absolutely! This makes an 8 inch square pan, but if you want a 13×9 inch pan, double everything and follow the same instructions. The baking time will be affected slightly, so keep an eye on it.

Can You Freeze These Bars?

Yes, these peanut butter chocolate chips bars freeze really well. You want to store in an airtight container for up to 4 months. You can either slice and individually wrap them, if you want to take out just one at time. Or you can freeze the entire pan, take them out to thaw on the counter, and then serve them.

Any special instructions or recommendations if mailing these to California?

It would depend on where you are from and when you are shipping them. If it is the heat of the summer, the chocolate could melt, so you want to ship as quickly as possible.
