Slow Cooker Cream Corn – dress up your side dishes with this cream corn. So much better than any canned stuff you can find.
So you have any side dishes that you just love? There are a handful at my house, like The Rice. But most of the time I am always trying to find something new. It can be next to impossible to get my family to eat vegetables. Do you have that problem? I like most vegetables, but I can’t get my guys to eat much of anything. So I am always trying new recipes and trying to get my guys to eat more.
Every year at my house we have “Special Corn” for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is basically cream corn that you top with Parmesan cheese. I decided to skip the last step and make it a little easier. I am going to test it out with my family this holiday season to see what the think.
You could easily follow this slow cooker cream corn recipe, and then transfer to a baking dish to top with cheese and broiler the last couple minutes to get the crispy crust, our “special corn” is known for. Don’t you love the descriptive name my dad came up with? I am pretty sure my mom found the recipe in a magazine about 20 years ago and it was called Parmesan Crusted Cream Corn, but over the years the name has changed.
Maybe one of these days I will actually shared the real recipe with you. But today, we are going to enjoy slow cooker cream corn as it is. Super creamy, sweet, and delicious. Serve with dinner any night of the week. This corn is great with your favorite barbecue, or pork chops, or even your holiday ham.
I was inspired to make this cream corn today after my trip to Iowa CornQuest a couple weeks ago. Did you read all about it? See me drive a combine, and check out my time in the Quad Cities. We learned so much about corn production and farming, it was a great couple of days!
I love the idea of making side dishes in the crock pot. Especially over the holidays. Anything to free up oven space or make the day a little easier is a must. So add this slow cooker cream corn to your menu, and your day will be just that much easier. And your guests will be asking you for the recipe the whole time.
