I can not believe that it is August already. My 9 year old and I are visiting family in Wisconsin this week. We spent the weekend with my extended family in Minnesota. It was a great time catching up with everyone, and we had great weather. On Saturday night all of the adults went on a dinner boat cruise. So nice to enjoy the sunset, the company, the good food, and all kid free :) Yesterday we came to Wisconsin, and I got to hang out with Erin (Law Student’s Wife). Dinner and drinks on the patio in downtown Madison, were the perfect way to end the weekend!
I wasn’t going to post a recipe today, but I wanted to give you one last fun drink that you can enjoy this weekend! Do you have any fun plans to enjoy the 4th of July? I think that we are going to go on a bike ride tomorrow. Hopefully the trail that we want to ride on isn’t flooded this time. The rest of the weekend will be spent going to a Colorado Rockies game and probably going up to the mountains to go on a hike. Personally I am excited for fireworks. I love getting to see fireworks, there is just something amazing about them!
I trust that all the Dad’s out there had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend. Ours was low key, which is exactly what my husband requested. We have been so busy lately, he just want to have some time at home. I had big plans of going away for the weekend, hiking, biking, and seeing friends. But I was over ruled. I guess on Father’s Day, the father should get a say, huh? There were a few treats and a special dinner over the weekend though. I can’t just let the day completely slide by.
Mother’s Day weekend is here. Are you ready? Do you have a great plan for your Mom? My mom is actually coming to our house next week, so I am saving my gift until then. I think it is so much better to give a person a gift in person, even if it is a few days late. Hopefully she agrees :) As for our house, I am not sure what we are doing. My son has the week off from football, so we have the whole weekend free. I am hoping I get to sleep in, and not have to cook, or do the dishes for the day. I like to think I am pretty easy when it comes to holidays. My husband might disagree.
Welcome to Day #2 of Christmas Week, a multi-blogger event co-hosted by Kim of Cravings of a Lunatic and Jen from Juanita’s Cocina! Each day we will be celebrating the holidays with a different set of Christmas-themed treats, as well as a fabulous Christmas giveaway. We hope you enjoy this fabulous event. Tune in each day starting today, Monday, December 9th and ending Saturday, December 14th.
I love having a fun cocktail for entertaining around the holidays. It is just so fun and festive to have when you have people over. To me margaritas just spell fun! So I decided to put a holiday spin on them, to make them perfect for December. In case haven’t noticed yet, I have a thing for pomegranate juice (pomegranate mimosas, pomegranate bellinis, pomegranate prosecco) in a cocktail. Why not use it for a margarita too
Pomegranate margaritas are easy to make. You can mix up a pitcher of the them in the afternoon, and have it in the fridge ready for when your friends arrive. It is such a gorgeous color too! It is very easy to adjust the sweetness as well. I like my drinks a little on the sweeter side, so I just added a little more simple syrup to mine. But if you like them tart, don’t add as much…easy!
- ¾ cup tequila
- 1 cup Triple Sec
- 1 cup Pomegranate juice
- ¾ cup lime juice
- ½ -3/4 cup simple syrup
- To make simple syrup combine equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat to a boil. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, cool.
- In a pitcher combine all of the ingredients. Stir until combined.
- Pour over ice to serve. Or store over the fridge until ready to serve.
- Garnish with lime slices and pomegranate seeds, if desired.

December is here, and it is unofficially the party season. Or at least it seems that way. Work parties, cookie exchanges, get togethers with friends, family events, and New Years Eve is right around the corner as well…it really doesn’t seem to end this time of year. I am not complaining at all, I love getting together with others and having an excuse to enjoy a glass of sparkling wine with a few appetizers.
Are you a fan of Arrested Development? We LOVE that show! We watched all the episodes back in the day, we own the whole set on DVD, and are in the process of re-watching them all right now. Do you know why? Because a new season is coming out on Netflix!! The new season starts on Sunday May 26th, and I am so excited!
Today is New Year’s Eve!! What do you have planned? Are you going out tonight? Are you hosting a party? Do you just stay in, and hang out with your family? We just stay in. My birthday is tomorrow and my parents are here this year, so we will probably go out to dinner to celebrate, then hang out. We will see if we even make it to midnight!
For those of you hosting parties, or even just hanging out, I have a fun and festive drink for your night. This is really easy to make. I just put a few pomegranate seeds in a glass, squeezed in some lime juice, and topped with Prosecco (a sweet champagne). The lime adds a little tart to the sweet champagne, and it is just a little different than plain champagne.
I hope that you had a great 2012, and that your 2013 is even better!
Football season is here! College started last weekend, and it was on all day at our house. This week is professional. Who is your favorite team? We are split here. I was born in Minnesota, and my Dad is a big Vikings fan. So even after we moved to Wisconsin, I still held strong. My husband on the other hand, was born and raised in Wisconsin, so he is a Packers fan. And of course, a son has to side with his dad, so my 7 year old is a Packers fan. The only thing we can agree on is college – we are all Badger fans!
Football and tailgating go hand in hand. Today the #SundaySupper team is here to help. We have an amazing line up of everything you need for one killer tailgate before a game. Honestly, I don’t think I have ever officially tailgated before. I am more of a, have all your friends over to your house, watch the game on tv kind of a girl. But that needs tons of snacks too, so we are all good today!
One thing that every football game needs is a drink. The guys can have their beer, but sometimes I like a good fruity drink. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good beer as much as the next guy, but something new is always good. This is super simple to put together – just lemonade, Sprite, and Tropical Punch Vodka. You can play with the ratios to get what you like. The Tropical Punch Vodka has lots of pineapple flavor that works great with the tart lemonade.
