Sparkling Tropical Lemonade #SundaySupper

Football season is here!  College started last weekend, and it was on all day at our house.  This week is professional.  Who is your favorite team?  We are split here.  I was born in Minnesota, and my Dad is a big Vikings fan.  So even after we moved to Wisconsin, I still held strong.  My husband on the other hand, was born and raised in Wisconsin, so he is a Packers fan.  And of course, a son has to side with his dad, so my 7 year old is a Packers fan.  The only thing we can agree on is college – we are all Badger fans!

Football and tailgating go hand in hand.  Today the #SundaySupper team is here to help.  We have an amazing line up of everything you need for one killer tailgate before a game.  Honestly, I don’t think I have ever officially tailgated before.  I am more of a, have all your friends over to your house, watch the game on tv kind of a girl.  But that needs tons of snacks too, so we are all good today!

One thing that every football game needs is a drink.  The guys can have their beer, but sometimes I like a good fruity drink.  Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good beer as much as the next guy, but something new is always good.  This is super simple to put together – just lemonade, Sprite, and Tropical Punch Vodka.  You can play with the ratios to get what you like.  The Tropical Punch Vodka has lots of pineapple flavor that works great with the tart lemonade.

Peach Lemonade

Peach Lemonade

What a busy weekend!  We got my sons room painted, including his red wall.  Almost all of his furniture is put together and in place.  There one last last shelf that needs to be screwed in.  At 10 last night, my husband and I were putting up the last 2 shelves.  The first one was really loud to drill into the wall, and the rest of the house was already in bed.  So we got the second one ready to go, and as soon as everyone is up this morning, it will take 5 minutes to finish.  Even with all the work, we managed to have some fun too.  We took a trip to Costco, and came away with more than we needed. Including some amazing steaks.  And we took part of Sunday and went up into the mountains.  It was so nice to go up there and walk around without dying of heat.  It was about 60 degrees, and it felt so good!

We were so busy, I almost forgot to write this post :)   Ok, I kind of did forget.  We had to disconnect the computer where my pictures are stored so we could paint another room.  I started writing this post on Monday morning (way later than I ever write a post), and now Monday night the computer is back, so I am finishing!  This lemonade just has to be shared though.

Peach Lemonade

Peaches are in season in Colorado now, and they are sweet, juicy, and delicious.  I bought way too many at the farmer’s market, so I decided to try lemonade with them.  I have done Raspberry Lemonade, and Blueberry Lemonade, so why not peach?

Peach Lemonade

If you have access to fresh peaches, you need to make this right away.  It is easy, and probably some of the best lemonade I have had.  The peaches work so well with the tartness of the lemon, it is just a very addicting drink.  It is perfect for a summer dinner on the patio, a barbeque with friends, or just to enjoy on these crazy hot days!

Sparkling Blueberry Lemonade

Blueberry Lemonade

Happy 4th of July!!!  Hope you have a wonderful day with family and friends celebrating this wonderful country that we live in. I wanted to remind you of a bake sale I am doing to help raise money for the Colorado Wildfires.  Please check it out, and help spread the word.

Blueberry Lemonade

Today we are doing another Holiday Recipe Club to help celebrate.  Our challenge this time was either blueberries, whipped cream, or barbeque sauce.  I could think of many delicious things to make with all of the ingredients, it was really hard to narrow it down.  Finally I decided on a drink.  I have been kind of obsessed with different drinks this summer.  There has been this, this, this, and this.

Blueberry Lemonade

I made this a non-alcoholic drink, but you could easily add in some vodka and turn it into an adult version.  It comes together in 5 minutes, so add it to your afternoon get together.  I found these Ocean Spray Sparkling fruit drinks, and used that in place of blueberry juice.  They were great on their own, but combining it with the lemon juice made it amazing!  Even my 7 year old couldn’t stop drinking this lemonade.

I did make cute little star shaped ice cubes with blueberries frozen in them, but you can’t see them in the picture :(   Even if you don’t have star shapes, it is a fun and pretty way to add blueberries to the drink.

Happy 4th of July!

Swanky Caribbean Lemonade

Swanky Cayman Lemonade

I love going on vacations, who doesn’t?  But there is always so much to do when you get home!  Between work, laundry, grocery shopping, and everything else it takes a lot to get caught back up.  And it takes even longer when your 7 year old is home with you on summer break :)

Good thing I made this for you before I left!  This was the drink I promised you when I made the Caribbean Rice.  I made this for our last cooking club for the year, where we had an island theme.  When I found out the theme, I went straight to The Deep Dish.  She lives in Grand Cayman and is always posting such gorgeous food.  I chose this traditional Grand Cayman drink.  It is their version of lemonade.

This went over extremely well at cooking club.  I was a little nervous, based on the color, but it is slightly sweet and tangy, and paired perfectly with everything we had there.  The recipe uses brown sugar instead of regular white sugar, so there is more depth to this.  Also, instead of lemons it uses limes.  I did a little research and it seems like different restaurants use slightly different citrus blends to come up with “their” version.  I planned on all limes, but they were tiny and didn’t produce as much juice, so I added in a little lemon and orange.  It was perfect!

Raspberry Lemonade

We made it to Wisconsin!  The drive through Nebraska was so much worse than normal.  We had to sit on the interstate for 40 minutes for no apparent reason.  Not to mention the 12 sections of construction we had to drive through.  I am seriously not looking forward to the drive back! Despite all the delays our son did awesome, I think the kid was made for road trips!

I am on the other hand enjoying the freedom of this trip.  If my 7 year old had his way, my husband and I would go back home for the week, and then just come pick him up on Friday.  He is loving the time with Grandma and Grandpa, and doesn’t want us here.  He wants us to go to dinner by ourselves, he wants them to put him to bed, he wants to play sports with them.  Going home will be a rude awakening for all of us.

So far this summer I am obsessed with making different drinks.  Usually I am content with iced tea and lemonade, but this year I keep mixing it up.  This has to be one of my favorites though, and it is so easy.  Plus, it has next to no calories!  I think I drank the full 2 quarts in a day and a half.  It is such a pretty color, this would be wonderful for a party.  Putting in a few raspberries for a garnish would be a nice touch as well.
