Summer has arrived here in Colorado. We went straight from winter (snow on May 1st) to summer. This week has been in the mid 80′s. Who needs spring, anyway! This last weekend we spent 3 hours pulling weeds, tilling soil, and planting our garden. We went a little crazy this year! We have 2 kinds of green beans, 2 kinds of squash, Brussels Sprouts, 4 tomato plants, asparagus, parsnips, potatoes, sweet corn, strawberries, 3 hot peppers, a bell pepper, 2 kinds of basil, rosemary, thyme, parsley, and cilantro. You can probably expect lots of recipes with veggies later in the summer

Yesterday was my husband’s birthday. Because we just went to San Francisco, we didn’t really do much to celebrate. He did request Guacamole for a snack, and Pokey Sticks for dinner. (both very early posts, don’t mind the pictures)
Before I get to what caught my eye this week, I thought I would share a few pictures from our weekend.
Here we are on the boat to tour Alcatraz. If you go there, this is a must do. They do a great job with the tour, and there is nothing else like it.

We borrowed a friends car for the day and drove to Muir Woods, and up the coast. The Red Wood trees are just huge, and amazing.

The infamous Lombard St

And the last day we were there we walked along the bay and across the Golden Gate Bridge

It was a great long weekend, and it is getting us more excited for our trip to Japan in 3 weeks!
Ok, here are a few things that caught my eye around the web this week:
Dark Chocolate Salted Caramel Cookies from Love from the Oven – Yum! I am a sucker for caramel and chocolate together.
Creamy Garlic Pasta from Buns in My Oven – pretty sure this pasta would disappear in a heart beat at my house.
Sundried Tomato Fettuccine from Table For Two – I have never had the Cheesecake Factory version, but this lightened up version looks amazing. On the menu for next week!
Copycat Kit Kat Bites from Shugary Sweets – Kit Kats are one of my favorites, and Aimee never steers me wrong!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Cupcakes from Sally’s Baking Addiction – I wouldn’t be surprised if these became breakfast soon.
Thanks for stopping by, back with a new recipe tomorrow!

How are those resolutions coming? I am doing my best to give you healthy recipes all this month. But I have to tell you, this girl wants to bake!! My husband is thankful I haven’t been baking. We are trying to drop a couple pounds before our big trip to Japan in March.

Have you decorated for Christmas yet? I haven’t. This weekend I think we will get our tree, and deck the halls. I kind of wanted to relax and take a short break after Thanksgiving, before all the crazy started. I have two cookie exchanges this month, a 2nd grade class party to plan, as well as all the other Christmas fun, so it is going to get crazy.
This Pomegranate & Lime White Wine Spritzer from Brandi at Nutmeg Nanny is just gorgeous! I need to have a party of my own to make this, and share with friends.

Have you checked out what Roxana, from Roxana’s Home Baking is up to? 25 recipes to Christmas! A different Christmas recipe each day leading up to Christmas. Yours truly just might be helping out next week
You have to check out this Chicken Adobo from Jen at Tartine and Apron Strings. It looks so good, and has such great flavors, I can’t wait to make it! While you are there, take a look around; Jen is amazingly creative and talented!

Last thing today is this over the top, insane cake from Sarah at Baking Serendipity. Cake, chocolate ganache, and cookie dough! I am not sure that it can get much better than that!

This is a very strange week around my house. Originally we were planning to leave on Saturday to drive back to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving. But it worked out that when my parents left on Tuesday, they look my 7 year old with them. So he flew back to Wisconsin with them, and my husband and I are now leaving on Friday to drive back for Thanksgiving. It is so nice for him that he gets to spend time with his grandparents alone. But now, I am frantically trying to get everything ready to leave on Friday. My week just got shorter.
Isn’t this super cute? I think any baker would love this necklace

Thursday Things & Facebook Changes
I can not believe we are only 2 weeks away from Thanksgiving! Are you ready? We are going to be at our parents house, so I don’t have to worry about a menu. I will be in there helping for sure, but I am not in charge. I have sent along my suggestions though
Did you know that Facebook made even more changes? They are making it really difficult to follow our favorite blogs and companies sites. Now, for each page that you like, you have to select that you want to add them to your “Interest List” in order to see updates. Here is a picture of what you need to do, it takes about 10 seconds. Make sure you do this, so you don’t miss out on any recipes. I have a lot coming up for the holidays you don’t want to miss
We have been spoiled with gorgeous weather here in Colorado, but this weekend it looks like it is coming to and end. Good-bye 60′s, Hello 40′s. Not exactly thrilled, but if I could get this cute outfit, I would feel a little better.

I love chocolate and mint together, pretty much any time of year. York Peppermint Patties are a guilty pleasure of mine. I can’t wait to make these cookies for Christmas!

I am ready for the weekend (I know I still have a day)! My parents will be here for a couple days on their way back home from a business trip. Plus, my son’s flag football is over, so it should be a relaxing and good weekend!
Back tomorrow with another leftover Halloween candy recipe. Trust me, you really don’t want to miss this one

So did you have a good Halloween? My son sure did. Here is a picture of him all ready for Trick or Treating as Harry Potter.
So after the let down of the sugar high, it is time to get on with real life again. I am ready for the weekend though! Saturday is the playoffs for my son’s flag football team. If they win their first 2 games, they are in the Super Bowl. Very exciting, and so much better than his team last year.
I want these meatballs from Lisa at Authentic Suburban Gourmet to make an appearance soon.
Oh my, I can’t wait for it to get cold enough to make this! Over the top, Cookies n’ Cream Hot Chocolate

I took the week off from Thursday Things last week, because of Breast Cancer Awareness. In case you missed it, lots of bloggers bought all things pink and healthy to share everyday to help spread the word. We ended with a great giveaway on Friday (check it out).
This week we are back. Question for any fellow bloggers out there. What do you do for a recipe index? Is there a plug in you use, or anything? I want to update mine, but am not sure where to go?
Are you ready for Halloween? It is right around the corner. I have some fun treats for you next week. Tomorrow I might have something for all of you chocolate lovers out there, so don’t miss it. It might even involve you winning lots and lots chocolate for yourself!
I am meeting friends in Denver this weekend for a girls weekend! So excited, wish I had this to hear.

I need your help. I am entering a cookie contest next week – what cookies do I make?!?!
I am kind of in love with fall fashion this year. Pinterest makes it so easy for me to think I actually know how to be stylish! Now if I could only afford a whole new wardrobe. Maybe my family is paying attention and will get Christmas ideas…even better!

Last year I did a whole week of Halloween treats, but this year I am totally lacking creativity. Maybe I will get my act together and make these.

Because I am trying to lose a couple pounds, these will probably be making an appearance in my kitchen soon. My husband and I went to Vietnamese restaurant recently, and I had something similar. Can’t wait to make it at home!

So what are you up to this week? Any fun plans for the weekend? My 7 year old has a double header football game on Sunday, and a birthday party Saturday night. Should be a good weekend!
