Fire Roasted Salsa

Fire Roasted Salsa – make homemade salsa that is loaded with flavor in just minutes, all year round! Great for dipping or on tacos, salsa, burritos or nachos.

Mexican food is probably my favorite food. If it could be considered a food group, I would definitely be a happy girl. There is just something about the fresh ingredients and spices that just make me want to keep eating.

If you are anything like me, when that basket of chips and Restaurant Style Salsa shows up, you know you are in for a treat.

There are a few salsa recipes on the blog already, and they all have something that makes them just a little different. This Copycat Chili’s Salsa is a favorite by many. And if you have garden fresh tomatoes than this Fresh Salsa recipe is a must make.

Really good tomatoes are only available for a short time each year, so I like finding different recipes that give you that fresh salsa taste, even on a cold winter day. This uses canned fired roasted tomatoes to give you lots of great flavor and you can make any day of the week.

What You’ll Need

  • Fire Roasted Tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Cilantro
  • Lime
  • Jalapeno
  • Salt & Pepper

The best part about making salsa at home is getting to control the heat level. My family likes things spicy, so I leave the seeds in and use more jalapeno. But if you like it mild, just cut out the seeds. You can taste and then add more if you want it a little spicier.

salsa ingredients in food processor

How To Make Fire Roasted Salsa

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a food processor.
  2. Process for 10-15 seconds and then check to see that everything is blended. You can process longer if you need to continue to mix everything or what it smoother.
  3. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Make sure to taste and test for the level of salt and spiciness. I like to start out with less salt and then add more if necessary.

I like to chop up the ingredients before I add to the food processor, but this is optional. If you like a chunkier salsa having them ingredients all chopped, means less mixing and you will get a chunkier texture.

How To Use Fire Roasted Tomatoes

I can eat pretty much the whole batch with just chips, but it is great to use in recipes as well.

Fire roasted tomatoes give the salsa just a little bit of a smoky flavor. If you haven’t tired it before you are in for a treat!
