The kitchen really is the heart of the home. If you have a get together, where does everyone hang out? In the kitchen! Even when just our family of 3 is home, we gather around the kitchen when someone is making a meal. Something about being in the kitchen, even if you aren’t the one cooking, is just comforting. Even after the meal is over, people just tend to hang out talking in the kitchen. It really is the place to be.

Have you ever seen the show The Kitchen on Food Network? It is a fun show with a few Food Network personalities, all gathered around the kitchen. Preparing different foods, giving kitchen tips, and just having a good time. It totally reminds me of just hanging out with your friends. I remember almost every night as a kid our whole family getting into the kitchen and helping with dinner. Even at a young age, my brother and I had our “jobs”. They weren’t really all that helpful, but it got us in there, and around food, and part of the family. To this day, if we are at someones house, that is the first place I (and almost everyone else) head to. We have this peninsula thing in our kitchen, but it close to the sink, so no one sits there to eat. But I still have stools there, just so people have a place to sit when they gather in the kitchen.
