Mummy Granola Bars

Mummy Granola Bars – get your kids favorite snack decorated and ready for Halloween! You can use homemade granola bars or dress up even store bought ones.

Almost all of the Halloween themed recipes out there seem to be on the dessert side. Obviously these have a candy topping on them, but it all starts with granola bars! And you get to pick the granola bars you use. So they can be a something like these homemade Chewy No Bake Granola Bars or you can use your favorite store bought ones.

The recipe below is for a baked granola bar that holds up well to decorating, but what you use is completely up to you!

  • Old Fashioned Oats
  • Flour (all-purpose or white whole wheat)
  • Brown Sugar
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Salt

How To Make Mummy Granola Bars

  1. In a large bowl combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, chocolate chips and salt. Stir until well combined and everything is evenly blended.
  2. Pour the oil, vanilla, and honey over oat mixture and stir until everything is well coated.
  3. Dump onto prepared baking sheet and press until it is about 1 inch thick.
  4. Bake for 40 minutes, or until the bars are dry to the touch. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
  5. You do want to cut them into small bars while still slightly warm, so they are easier to handle.
  6. Let the bars cool completely on a wire rack, and then drizzle the white melted chocolate over the top to look like mummies.
  7. Immediately place the eyes over the chocolate so they stick as the chocolate hardens. Let the chocolate set completely before serving.

Storage

You can store these in an airtight container for up to a week. I like to individually wrap the bars, so that they eyes stay on. Alternatively you could place them in a single layer in a baking dish or large plastic container, with a layer of plastic in between.

ERIN! Dying over this cuteness! I totally wish you were my mom and put these in my lunch box as a kid. Totally trumps the crappy cookies you'd get in Lunchables!

Colds and candy...we have both here and I need to get rid of both. The candy is such a temptation...I don't know why I buy it early every year :-) Love these cute mummy granola bars!!!

I'm not ready for Halloween - I'm not even sure if we're giving out candy this year, since I'll be by myself that evening and hugely pregnant :) These granola bars are super adorable!
