Stir Fry Noodles – Quick and easy Asian Noodles tossed with veggies, your favorite protein (I used pork) and a delicious peanut sauce that has just a little kick.
If you have been here before you know I am all about getting dinner on the table fast. Everyone is busy, so we don’t want to spend an hour in the kitchen getting dinner ready. But with this Asian Stir Fry Noodles, you can get dinner ready in under 30 minutes!
Not to mention this make your own take out is so much better than you can get delivered. You can pick your protein, noodles, and vegetables to make it something even your picky eater will enjoy.
A stir-fry is traditionally something that is served over rice. But it really doesn’t have to be. The name refers to the cooking method, of stirring and tossing ingredients together in a wok using hot oil.
So it really can be whatever you want it to be. It is a great way to use up vegetable in your fridge or get your kids (or husband) to try new vegetables. I don’t know about your family, but if I serve it with pasta, it usually ends well.
Which Noodles To Use For Stir Fry
There are so many options when it comes to noodles. Personally I often go easy and just use spaghetti, because I always have it in my pantry already. But if you want to use real Asian noodles here are a few that are great!
- Udon Noodles – these are a thick and chewy noodle that doesn’t have a whole lot of taste, so it works very similar to traditional Italian style pasta. I use it in my Garlic Beef Noodles as well.
- Lo Mein Noodles – these can also be labeled as Chinese Egg Noodles sometimes.
- Rice Noodles – also called Rice Sticks sometimes. These are very thin and cook very quickly. They also are naturally gluten free, so can be a great option if you need that.
- Spaghetti – As I said, this is what I use most because I always have it on hand. Fettuccini and Linguini work great as well. I like to use something long in a noodle stir fry.
Best Stir Fry Vegetables
You really can use whatever vegetables you have in your fridge and that your family likes. In the end you need about 5-6 cups of vegetables. So it is up to you what to use. The recipe below includes our favorite version. But here are some ideas!
- Broccoli
- Bell Peppers
- Cauliflower
- Sugar Snap Peas
- Water Chestnuts
- Mushrooms
- Bok Choy
- Carrots
- Baby Corn
Stir Fry Noodle Sauce
There are so many different stir fry sauces out there, this one has a little bit of peanut butter in there to give it some more flavor and make it creamy. Plus the Sriracha gives it a little kick. My family tends to add more at the table, because they like it spicy. But you can play with the amount if you like things more mild.
I like to use low sodium soy sauce when I am making just about any Asian Recipe, so it doesn’t end up too salty in the end. There is no additional salt called for in this recipe. But if you taste it and want to add some at the end you are more than welcome to.
- Soy Sauce
- Peanut Butter
- Honey
- Sesame Oil
- Sesame Seeds
- French Ginger
- Garlic
- Rice Wine Vinegar
- Sriracha Sauce
- Crushed Red Pepper
- Pepper
Which Meat To Use
This is another thing that you have a choice in to make it your own. My family is partial to pork, so I thinly slice pork tenderloin to make it. But you can even make this entirely plant based by using tofu!
- Chicken Breast
- Pork Tenderloin
- Sirloin Steak
- Shrimp
- Tofu
How To Make Stir Fry Noodles
Just like when making any Asian or stir fry recipe it is best to get everything ready before you start cooking. Things move quickly, so having everything prepped makes cooking less stressful.
- Start by prepping all your veggies. Wash and cut them into similar size pieces and have them ready for you.
- In a liquid measuring cup whisk together the sauce until everything is smooth.
- Next you will bring water to boil and cook your noodles.
- While the noodles are cooking add the oil to a large skillet and brown your meat. You want to cook it just for a few minutes to get the outside cooked. The remove it from the pan and set aside. It will finish cooking in the sauce later.
- Add all of your veggies to the pan and cook for few minutes until they are tender.
- Add your meat back to the pan and pour in your sauce. Mix together and let simmer for a few minutes until the meat is cooked through.
- Add in the cooked pasta and toss until it is coated.
- Serve topped with the chopped peanuts and green onions.
Making your own take out at home is so easy to do and often times just as fast as getting it delivered or having to go pick it up. Plus you get to make it your own. You can add tons of veggies, make it spicy, leave out the broccoli if you don’t like it. So it really is what you want.
Plus you know the quality of ingredients being used. It doesn’t have to be a super sweet or salty sauce that is used. So the next time you get that craving for some spicy noodles, this is definitely on your list to make!
