Beef ragu
is an authentic Italian meat sauce made from savory ground beef simmered in tomato sauce with veggies and garlic. Serve it over spaghetti for a cozy, Tuscan-style dinner!

Ingredients
⅓
cup
extra virgin olive oil
1
large carrot
peeled and finely chopped
1
celery stalk
finely chopped
1
small red onion
finely chopped
2
cloves
garlic
minced

pound
lean ground beef
3
cups
tomato sauce
(preferably San Marzano tomatoes)

tsp
salt

pound
spaghetti
cooked according to the package directions
Basil leaves for garnish
Parmesan cheese
optional
Instructions
In a large pot heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the carrots, celery, onion, and garlic. Cook until lightly browned, 10-15 minutes.
Add the ground beef, stirring to break into clumps. Brown the meat lightly, about 10 minutes.
Add the tomatoes and salt, stir until well combined. Cook for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from the heat, and toss with the cooked spaghetti. Top with Parmesan cheese and basil if desired.
