Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, are you ready? I am not usually that into the holiday. I am horrible with crafts, so I don’t get into all the cute and fun ideas (although sometimes I wish I did). What I am into though? Any excuse to eat chocolate. Let’s face it, Valentine’s Day is pretty much all about chocolate. So that is what I am sharing with you today. #SundaySupper is going Valentine’s on you today, and I am bringing chocolate.
I adapted my tried and true Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe to use brown butter. Then I topped it with some festive red M&M’s. Topping cookies with M&M’s is pretty much a regular occurrence at my house. Like I said before, I like chocolate
You can buy Valentine’s M&M’s at the store right now, or make them with whatever color you want. But trust me, you should make them!
I always have cookie dough in my freezer. I make a batch of it, then only bake what I need right away. I scoop balls of dough onto a baking sheet, then put it in the freezer for an hour. Once they are frozen, I put them in a zip lock bag. Then anytime a cookie craving hits, I can just bake up what I need. This is a great tip if you are anything like me, and can’t stay out of the cookie jar!
- 1 cup brown butter (great recipe here)

There is something about brown butter that just makes cookies even better. I will have to try and make these with Smarties since we aren’t M&M fans in this house.

Erin…these must be fabulous with the addition of brown butter! And I love how you only chose red M&M’s….such a nice contrast with the light and dark browns in the cookie…..so pretty! : )
I bet the brown butter adds a bit of a nutty flavor to go with the chocolate. yum! They are really cute too. My kids would love them.

Great recipe – imagining it would go over great in the kids classroom parties!
I have to get on the brown butter cookie bandwagon! And my mom would love these because she is an M&M freak. I won’t see her for Valentine’s Day, but I should make them for her soon.
I´m not crafty either, so holidays are always about the food! Such nice colors in these cookies, and brown butter just makes them extremely decadent!

MMMm! I love a classic cookie like this
Love the idea of brown butter chocolate chip cookies and the M&M’s in them are so perfect!! Beautiful cookies!!
I saw these earlier on Foodgawker and knew they had to belong to someone from #SundaySupper. They sound and look awesome!
Valentines day is definitely all about the chocolate! Love these cookies!
Brown butter can do no wrong in cookies, that is for sure! I love these, Erin!
You can never go wrong with adding brown butter to a cookie!

I made the mistake of trying the raspberry-flavored M&M’s over the holidays. How great would they be in this cookie?
Your how-to brown butter and your M & M cookies recipes are now in my Recipes I Want to Make file. Your photos and step-by-step instructions are stellar! Thank you, Erin =)
P.s. Your split pea soup was a success with the hubby and I am expected to make it again. (Sans – without – the fake bacon I put in instead of the ham you recommended. Oh, well, live and learn.)

You really can’t go wrong with a fresh baked cookie. These sound like a winner to me!
I am so with you, Valentine’s Day is all about the chocolate! My husband always brings home tons of candy, and then I try to score some of the clearance stuff the next day
I need to look for M&M’s this year so I can make these – brown butter is the best!
Gorgeous! And perfectly simple, great to enjoy the day with loved ones
Those look perfect! We made cookies this week with the Valentine M&M’s, but they didn’t turn out anywhere as pretty as yours.
I give you a ton of kudos for having the self control to keep cookie dough in your freezer at all times! My grandma used to keep peanut butter cookie dough in hers so that we could make cookies with her whenever we’d come over. We’d always beg her for a slice (it was a log of dough), but she’d end up giving us at least 3, which is probably why keeping it in my freezer has never really worked out for me! I’ve been meaning to try brown butter in my chocolate chip cookies. I just might… if I don’t eat all the dough first!
yum, love this! I’m going to bake these cookies this week! I browned butter for the first time ever tonight for some lemon cookies. . love it!
You had me at brown butter. These look so good!
YUM! Great cookie recipe!
Love how you used brown butter in M&M cookies!
mmmm I’ll take a dozen! I promise I’ll even share a few

Beautiful!
These cookies are perfect for Valentine’s Day.
These are so beautiful! I LOVE brown butter cookies!
I’ve never tried using brown butter in cookies, but it sounds like it adds great flavor. Thanks for the great tip on freezing cookie dough too. That would be the perfect, quick dessert for unexpected guests.
I need to get onto the brown butter bandwagon. I have about a dozen recipes featuring brown butter that I haven’t tried yet. These look like the perfect chocolate chip cookies and I fully agree with you, Valentines Day = chocolate in my mind!
I think brown butter adds such an amazing flavor to cookies!
Your brown butter cookies look so good!
These would be amazing!! LOVE them!!
These look very yummy & perfect for VDay!
I really, really need to try making something with brown butter. It is everywhere in desserts, and I have never tried it! Your cookies look amazing!
