Sausage Tortellini Skillet – Your favorite tortellini comes together in a quick and easy hearty one pan meal the whole family will love!
Pasta is definitely one of my favorite comfort foods. And when you can have everything come together in one pan, be hearty, loaded with flavor and topped with melty, gooey cheese, I am all in!
This is one of those recipes that will fill up a crowd and your picky eaters will go crazy for. And you are going to love how easy it is to make, with hardly any dishes.
What You’ll Need
- Italian Sausage
- Onion
- Garlic
- Italian Seasoning
- Marinara Sauce
- Cheese Tortellini
- Half and Half
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Fresh Basil
How To Make Sausage Tortellini Skillet
- In a large skillet brown sausage and onion together until cooked through, drain any grease away.
- Add in the garlic and Italian seasoning. Cook for 2 minutes until you can start to smell the garlic.
- Add marinara sauce and tortellini. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes until tortellini are mostly cooked.
- Pour in the half and half and stir to combine.
- Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese. Cover the pan to melt the cheese.
- Sprinkle with basil to serve.
Recipe Tips & Substitutions
- You really can make this meal your own. Use turkey or chicken Italian sausage if you want to cut down on some of the fat and calories.
- I like to use store bought fresh tortellini, but you could definitely use frozen if you have it. I like to use cheese, because there is already meat in the sauce. But use whatever you like!
- Want to add veggies? Add 2 cups of spinach to the sauce and let it wilt down when you stir in the half and half.
- Don’t have half and half? Use heavy cream or whole milk. You are just making it a little bit creamy and not just a full red marinara sauce. You can even skip it if you want to.
- Like it spicy? Use hot Italian sausage or add in red pepper flakes to the sauce.
Storage
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. It will last for 4-5 days. You can reheat in the microwave until it is warmed through for a quick and easy lunch the next day.

This recipe doesn’t seem keto with the addition of the tortellini...is that correct?

Correct, pasta is not keto. I don't believe it is labeled or described as Keto, if you got that impression I am sorry.

You could use those tortellini in any recipe that sounds good to you - just leave out the meat called for in the recipe. If there isn't any meat, but you think sausage sounds good with it, then use your tortellini. This soup would be good https://dinnersdishesanddesserts.com/italian-tortellini-soup/ or this other creamy tortellini recipe - https://dinnersdishesanddesserts.com/tomato-basil-tortellini/ My family loves sausage, so I will often use the sausage tortellini in recipes that call for cheese. I just don't add extra meat, because then it is too much. Hope that helps.

Hi, Do you know if the Gourmet Gardens products are available in San Diego, Ca? I have not seen them. I looked on their website and saw that they are located in Australia, it didn't say where to buy them here.

They are available at almost every major grocery store in the US. On their site, look at the store locator. you can put in your cite or zip code and it will give you a list. They are located in the product department, near the other herbs at my stores.
