Recipe Tips & Variations

  • Eggs. You can use whatever your favorite way to make hard boiled eggs or even just buy the store bought already cooked ones. Instant Pot Eggs and Air Fryer Eggs are both great options.
  • Chives. I use chives to make the laces because it is just about the perfect thickness for what you need. You can use green onions, you will just have to cut them more to make them thin enough. But if it is all you have, it most definitely works!
  • Double? Triple? Half? You can adjust this recipe to whatever you need for your get together. I wrote the recipe using 8 whole eggs, but if you are just a couple people, use 4 eggs and cut the recipe in half. Or if you are going to a big tailgate, double it for more!
  • Don’t like mayo? You can sub Greek yogurt for the mayo if desired. There is enough other flavors, the taste won’t change too much.

Storage

Did you know you can make deviled eggs ahead of time? You can make these Football Deviled Eggs up to 2 days in advance. I think they are best the day they are assembled, so I like to make the eggs and the filing a couple days before and then pipe the filling into the eggs and decorate the day of the event.

If you have leftovers Just store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
