What You’ll Need For Baked Caesar Chicken

Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for the FULL PRINTABLE recipe card.

  • Chicken Breasts
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Caesar Dressing
  • Black Pepper
  • Italian Panko Breadcrumbs

How to Make Caesar Chicken

  • Season Chicken. Season the chicken with black pepper and arrange in a casserole dish. I think there is enough salt with the cheese and dressing, so I don’t add any, but if you want to you definitely can.
  • Pour over dressing. With the chicken in the pan sprinkle over the Parmesan cheese and even pour the dressing over the chicken. You can use a spatula to spread it over the chicken if necessary.
  • Add Topping. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the chicken in a nice even layer.
  • Bake. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through. It will read 165º F on an instant read thermometer.

How Long Does It Take To Bake Chicken Breasts

It really depends on how thick the chicken breasts are. Standard pieces of chicken from the grocery store have gotten very thick, and weight almost a pound each. I like to butterfly those (cut them in half length wise), so I have 2 thinner chicken breasts. That is what I use for this recipe. They will cook in about 25-30 minutes at 375º F.

The best way to know when chicken is done is to take the temperature. It only needs to cook to 165º F. A lot of people are so concerned about under cooking it, they dry it out and cook it way too long. So use a thermometer to test your meat, and you are going to have the best, juicy, tender chicken!

Can I Use A Different Cut Of Chicken Or Meat

Yes, you can use boneless chicken thighs as well with this recipe. You really could use any cut of chicken, even bone-in, but your cooking times will change quite a bit. If you are in a hurry, chicken tenders work really well, they are cut small enough, they cook much faster!

Recipe Tips & Variations

  • Use Full Fat. I like to use a full fat Caesar dressing for this recipe. Sometimes the dressing can separate and be oily, and I find that the lower fat ones tend to do that more. They have more liquid in them, so it happens more often.
  • Keep Medium Temperature. I often times like to cook chicken at a higher temperature so it can get a crispier outside, but when using a cream sauce, you want to keep a more moderate temperature so the sauce doesn’t curdle and separate. 375º is about as high as I like to go when making this recipe.
  • Mix Up The Cheese. The recipe calls for Parmesan cheese, it goes very well in a Chicken Caesar Salad, so why not use it here! But you can also use Mozzarella or Provolone, they were really well. You can more and make it a cheesy dish as well. There is just enough for flavor in this version.
  • Use a Thermometer. The best way to know when chicken is done is to test the temperature. You don’t have to have dry and over cooked chicken to know it is safe to eat. Test the temperature, and as soon as it says 165º F, take it out of the oven to serve. It should be super juicy and tender.

I use the Thermapen Mk4 to check the temperature of the meat throughout the cooking process. It is the most accurate thermometer I have found and have been using it for years!

How To Store Leftover Baked Caesar Chicken

Store any leftover chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. You can reheat in the microwave, but the sauce may start to seperate. If you want to use the microwave, the best way is to heat at 50% power to slowly reheat.

It is best if you can bake in the oven at 350º F until it is warmed through.

What Goes With Baked Chicken

This is a super versatile dinner that you can serve whatever your favorite side dishes with!
