If you are from the MidWest, then you probably grew up with the Classic Magic Cookie Bars in their house around the holidays. They go by many different names, in my family they were called One Pan Bars, but Magic Bars, Hello Dolly Bars or Seven Layer Bars are other common names.

Well these are very similar they are just fun and festive for the holiday. I did make a couple small changes to make them a little different than the original, and I think they might be even better!

Why You’ll Love These Easter Magic Bars

  • Easy. One of the reasons they were called one pan bars in our house was because you only need one pan, you literally just layer everything in the pan and that is it!
  • Fun. All the colors just make this a fun and festive treat that people are going to be grabbing for.
  • Versatile. You really can mix up the layers however you want! Don’t chocolate chips and M&M’s, use white chocolate. Don’t like peanut butter, use butterscotch. Traditionally it uses shredded coconut, but I used oats instead. Use whatever you like!

What You’ll Need

Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for the FULL PRINTABLE recipe card.

  • Graham Cracker Crumbs – you can buy the box of crumbs, or use make your own
  • Butter
  • Old Fashioned Oats
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • Peanut Butter Chips
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • Easter M&M’s

As you can see, another reason it was called seven layer bars is the 7 ingredients that go into making the bars!

How To Make Easter Magic Bars

  • Add your graham cracker crumbs and melted butter to the bottom of a 13×9 inch baking dish. Use a spatula to mix everything together and press into the bottom of the pan. It will be very thin, that is perfectly ok!
  • Sprinkle over an even layer of the oats, chocolate chips, and peanut butter chips.
  • Next pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top so it mostly coats everything.
  • Top with your Easter M&M’s and bake.
  • Once the bars are set up and golden along the edges let them cool completely before slicing.

Magic Bar Variations

  • You can make these year round. Play around with the colors for different holidays. You can even use different varieties of M&M’s like dark chocolate, peanut butter, caramel etc.
  • Don’t like oats? Use shredded coconut like the original!
  • Mix up the chips! I used semi-sweet chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. But you can use white chocolate or butterscotch or dark chocolate or whatever your favorite is.
  • The original version has nuts. If you love nuts, feel free to add them here.

Can Your Freeze Easter Magic Bars

Yes, these freeze really well! Once the bars have cooled completely you can either cover the entire pan and freeze, or slice and freeze that way. When I was a kid my Grandma would slice them and put them in an airtight container in the freezer. We always knew where to look for treats whenever we went to her house!

Or store them in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days.
