Pepperoni Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwich – Take your favorite grilled cheese sandwich up a notch and make it taste like pepperoni pizza!

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are just one of those classics that everyone remembers from being a kid. That with a bowl of Tomato Soup and you have a perfect comfort meal.

As an adult, I am all about mixing up the class with new additions. Like Avocado Grilled Cheese and now turning pizza into a sandwich!

How To Make Pizza Grilled Cheese

  1. First assemble your sandwich. Lay 2 slices of bread on a plate or cutting board. Spread pizza sauce evenly on both slices of bread. Next add a layer of cheese, pepperoni slices, and then another layer of cheese. Place the top piece of bread on and gently press down.
  2. Spread butter on the outside of each slice of bread.
  3. Place in a skillet over medium heat and cover. Cook for 4-5 minutes until toasted and cheese is starting to melt.
  4. Flip and cook for 3-4 more minutes, or until toasted and cheese is completely melted.
  5. Remove from pan and cut in half to serve.

Recipe Variations

  • If you like things spicy add banana peppers and crushed red pepper flakes to your sandwich to give it a little kick.
  • Swap out the pepperoni for Canadian bacon, Salami, Italian Sausage or whatever other toppings you like.
  • Add in veggies. The veggies don’t really cook inside the sandwich, so if you want to add mushrooms or bell peppers it is best to saute them first and then add them to the sandwiches.
  • Mix up the cheese! You can use shredded or sliced Mozzarella, Provolone or sprinkle in some Parmesan cheese. Whatever you like on pizza goes!

Storage

Grilled cheese are definitely best eaten right after they are made. That is when the bread is the crispiest and everything just tastes the best. But if you have leftovers you can reheat them. So store in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.

To reheat you can warm in a skillet over medium heat until it is warmed through and slightly crispy again.
