Crock Pot Teriyaki Chicken – An easy crock pot chicken with a homemade teriyaki sauce that takes just 10 minutes to get ready! Delicious, easy, and so much better than take out!

Asian flavors have to be some of our favorites. It can something like Chicken Lo Mein or something super easy like this teriyaki chicken. As long as there is soy sauce and ginger I am usually happy!

And the best thing is making it at home is so much easier than you think. Plus it is so much better for you than take out. Not only can you control the quality of ingredients, but you can customize it to your taste!

This Crock Pot Teriyaki Chicken takes 10 minutes to prep and then you just let it cook, couldn’t be easier. You make your own homemade teriyaki sauce which is slightly sweet from the brown sugar but super flavorful with the ginger and garlic. Trust me, take the 5 minutes and make it from scratch, ditch the bottled stuff!

What You’ll Need For Teriyaki Sauce

  • Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Brown Sugar
  • Rice Vinegar
  • Sesame Oil

What Kind of Chicken To Use In The Crock Pot

You want to use a boneless skinless cut of chicken in the crock pot so that it cooks evenly and you don’t get a greasy sauce. When I am cooking in the crock pot, I like to use chicken thighs, because I feel they hold up better to the cooking process and stay juicier and more tender. But chicken breasts work great and the cooking time doesn’t change at all. So use what you have and what your family enjoys!

How To Make Crock Pot Teriyaki Chicken

  1. In a liquid measuring cup measure all the ingredients for the sauce and mix it together until the sugar is mostly dissolved.
  2. Place your chicken in the bottom of your crock pot and pour the sauce over.
  3. Cook on high for 2-3 hours or low for 4-5 hours.
  4. Once the chicken is cooked, remove from it from the crock pot and shred or chop it up.
  5. Pour the sauce in the bottom of the crock pot through a strainer into a saucepan. Bring it to a boil and then mix in the water and cornstarch mixture. Let it cook for a few minutes until it gets nice and thick.
  6. Add the chicken to the pan, tossing it until everything is evenly coated.
  7. Serve over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.

Can You Add Vegetable so Teriyaki Chicken.

Most definitely you can, but I would not add them to the crock pot while the chicken is cooking or they will get soft and mushy. It is best to cook them separately and mix with the sauce at the very end.

Vegetables To Add

  • Broccoli
  • Bell Peppers
  • Snap Peas
  • Stir Fry Vegetable Mix
  • Carrots

This Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken is a great healthy dinner you can make for your family any night of the week. Soy Sauce is very high in sodium, so if you are watching your salt in take be aware of that. I always use low sodium when I am cooking, that way I can adjust the salt lever later if necessary.

This chicken is great served over rice with veggies mixed in or just on the side. I like to garnish with sesame seeds and a few sliced green onions, but that is completely optional.

    1. It just rounds out the flavor of the homemade teriyaki sauce. If you are allergic, definitely leave it out and it will still be delicious.
