Easy Sesame Chicken – Make your favorite takeout at home! This sesame chicken tosses sweet and savory sauce with crispy chicken pieces and comes together in about 20 minutes!

This post is sponsored by CHEF’S CRAFT®, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Easy Asian recipes are some of my favorite. My family loves them, and when I can get dinner on the table in 20 minutes, I am super happy.

Chinese takeout is a go-to for so many people because it just takes the guess work out of dinner. Well, with this sesame chicken, it is pretty much the same thing! You can make the sauce in about 5 minutes, and it uses pre-breaded, fully-cooked chicken. Faster, tastes better, and just as easy as takeout.

What Is Sesame Chicken?

Sesame chicken is something you will find on almost every takeout menu and Chinese restaurant in the United States. It is a very Americanized dish. In China, they have a dish with crispy chicken pieces in a sweet and savory sauce, so it is somewhat based on that.

In the United States, it is a thick and delicious sauce that is on the sweeter side because of the brown sugar, or sometimes honey, that is in the sauce. It is tossed with breaded chicken pieces and often served over rice.

I recently discovered CHEF’S CRAFT® gourmet chicken in the freezer section at my Walmart. And I have become a big fan. You can check the Store Locator on their site to see where you can find it near you. It is also available at Food Lion and Meijer grocery stores.

Honestly, I am usually very hesitant about grilled chicken pieces, I am picky about chicken! But the CHEF’S CRAFT Flame Grilled Chicken Breasts Filets and Chunks have won me over. I have them in my freezer to put on salads, to add to chicken wraps, or even throw in with pasta recipes. The chicken is tender, juicy, and the right texture! For me, texture with pre-cooked frozen chicken is everything, and they are doing it right.

To make this crispy sesame chicken super quick and easy, I used CHEF’S CRAFT Gluten-Free Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks. They cook in under 15 minutes in either the air fryer, microwave, or your conventional oven. They are crispy, tender, and my family had no clue they were gluten-free.

What Is Sesame Chicken Sauce Made Of

It is a super simple sauce that you just mix together and then heat until the cornstarch starts to thicken the sauce.

  • Soy Sauce
  • Rice Vinegar
  • Sesame Oil
  • Cornstarch
  • Brown Sugar
  • Black Pepper
  • Garlic Chili Flakes

  2. Mix together all of the ingredients for the sauce in a liquid measuring cup and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture into a large skillet and bring to a boil. Cook for 3-4 minutes until it starts to thicken.
  4. Add your cooked chicken and toss until everything is coated.
  5. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice if desired.

This sesame chicken recipe could not be easier with the shortcut of using the breaded chicken breast chunks. You could even make this recipe a little healthier with the CHEF’S CRAFT grilled chicken breast chunks, if you choose!

Trust me when I say you need to have your freezer stocked with CHEF’S CRAFT Chicken. It is so versatile and a lifesaver on busy nights. I am so picky with chicken and this one has definitely won me over..
