Pina Colada – A classic tropical cocktail with coconut, pineapple and rum! Simple, easy and delicious with no mix required!
When you go on a cruise or somewhere tropical there are a few drinks that just come to mind. And a Pina Colada is one of them! If you are a fan of coconut, you are going to love it!

We went on a family cruise to Alaska last year, and my niece would order a virgin pina coloda every chance she got! So I had to come up with a classic version for the adults, and a fun virgin pina colada recipe that she could enjoy as well.
What’s In a Pina Colada
- Rum
- Pineapple
- Coconut Milk
- Ice

This easy pina colada recipe is great for a hot day, or the middle of winter and you wish you were on vacation somewhere tropical. Traditionally this is made with cream of coconut, which is a special product you have to search for. I like to use coconut milk instead because it is much easier to find.
Traditionally pina coladas are made with white rum. You really can use whatever you have on hand, but I think Malibu ups the coconut flavor and takes your cocktail to a whole new level!

How to Make Pina Coladas
- Add all of the ingredients to a blender
- Process until it is smooth
- I like it topped with a few pieces of dried coconut and maybe a cherry.
This Malibu pina colada is one of my favorites because there is a ton of coconut flavor and it just tastes like vacation! You often see a mixes in the store for this, but it is so easy to make at home. There are only a few ingredients, so skip the mix and make it from scratch.

Pineapple and coconut is a classic combination that has a tropical feel no matter what it is made into. These Pineapple Coconut Cupcakes are a fun way to enjoy the flavor in dessert form!
To make a Virgin Pina Colada Recipe just skip the rum in this recipe. You will want to add a little bit of pineapple juice or even water to your blender so you can get it thin and smooth enough. But it is super simple and delicious.
