- Ramen Noodles – this can be instant, it can be high end fresh….whatever type you like!
- Pasta Water
- Butter
- Sesame Oil
- Garlic
- Soy Sauce – I used low sodium
- Brown Sugar
- Sriracha – you can add more or less to adjust the spice
- Ginger – you can use fresh or the stuff in a tube, but avoid ground ginger if possible
- Green Onions
- Sesame Seeds
How To Make Sesame Noodles
- Cook Ramen Noodles. Bring a pot of water to boil and cook the noodles according to the package directions. If you are using instant ramen, be sure to discard the seasoning packet. Save 2 Tablespoons of the cooking water before you drain the noodles.
- Sauté Garlic. In a skillet add the butter and oil over medium heat. Once the butter is melted add the garlic and cook for about 2 minutes, until you can start to smell it.
- Make Sauce. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, sriracha and ginger to the garlic and stir until it comes together and makes a sauce. Remove from the heat.
- Toss Together. Add the noodles to the pan and mix until everything is fully combined. Add the reserved water to get the mixture to come together and make a sauce.
- Serve. Top with green onions and sesame seeds to serve.
Recipe Tips & Variations
- Ramen noodles come in all price points and types. You can do cheap with instant ramen, you can buy just a box of ramen noodles that are a little better quality in the Asian section, or you can buy fresh/frozen noodles at your Asian store. They all work!
- Add Veggies. Add bell peppers, broccoli, snap peas, mushrooms, or any other stir-fry vegetable you like. Cook them with the garlic and then toss everything together.
- Add Protein. You can add chicken, pork, shrimp, beef, or even tofu to this mix. It is great if you have leftovers you want to heat up and add.
- Like it spicy? Add more Sriracha to the mix or if you have chili garlic sauce that works great as well!
- Mix up the noodles. I obviously used ramen noodles for this, but really any works! You can use linguine, rice noodles, udon noodles….use what you have and like!
What To Serve With Sesame Noodles
You can bulk this up and serve as a main dish, or it makes a great side as well! If you want a complete Asian style take-out meal here are some of my favorites!
- Soups – Egg Drop Soup, Wonton Soup or Hot & Sour Soup
- Appetizers – Shrimp Summer Rolls or Egg Rolls
- Proteins – Korean Beef Kebabs, Char Siu Pork or Kung Pao Chicken Meatballs
Storage
You can store these in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. They are great leftover, so feel free to make extra!

These noodles are delicious! I have a ginger sesame chicken recipe that I served with them, and it was gone SO fast.
This is my go-to meal when I don’t feel like cooking. I love that its vegetarian for some family members, but that it goes great with any protein for the rest of us.
This was really good! Made it for dinner last night and I couldn’t stop eating it! So delicious and was done in no time!
Just made your Sesame Noodles for lunch, and oh my goodness, they were so good! The sesame flavor was spot on, and the hint of heat made it just perfect.
