Strawberry Sweet Tea – Southern style sweet tea with a little twist of strawberry. Turn up your ice tea game this summer and make strawberry iced tea.

Today my son and I are flying to Wisconsin! We get to go see my parents and my in-laws for the next 10 days. I am headed to a conference over the weekend, so my son gets to spend 3 whole days with just his grandparents. I think he is just more than a little bit excited. Over the next 10 days there will be a trips to the lake, boating, grilling out, probably a trip to carnival and who knows what else. Lots of summer fun in store. Too bad my husband has to work and can’t join us ๐ .
With summer in full swing you need to have a drink that you can break out when guests arrive, when you just come in from working in the yard, or just because you want to cool down. Ice Tea has always been one of my favorites, we always had a pitcher of it in the fridge when I was growing up. Then went I moved to Iowa my friend Katie introduced me to sweet tea. She is from Georgia so Southern sweet tea is what she had in her fridge every day. So for summer, I decided to use strawberries and put a spin on the classic for this strawberry sweet tea.
Strawberry sweet tea is definitely refreshing and perfect for summer. It is sweet like sweet tea should be, but not over the top so. It starts by making a simple syrup, which is just equal parts sugar and water. I added a bunch of strawberries to the water as it simmered, so it turned into a strawberry flavored syrup. After it was cooled, I added it to brewed ice tea for a super simple and refreshing sweet tea. You can definitely mix up the berries, raspberries would also be really good.
