Recipe Tips & Suggestions

  • Get Creative – I used M&M’s and Conversation Hearts for Valentine’s Day, but there are other candy options you could use instead. Use what you like or what you have on hand. This time of year everything is pink and hearts.
  • M&M’s – you can add all of the candy and once when you mix with the white chocolate, but I think the color gets lost that way. So I like to leave about half of it out and just sprinkle on at the end. It does stick because the chocolate is still wet, but doesn’t get completely coated.
  • Cereal – I used Crispix, because it is what I had on hand. But any variety of Chex cereal works. Even Life cereal or anything sturdy works great. You can also use Honey Nut Cheerios or the Berry Cheerios for more pink.
  • Mix-Ins – Other great ideas for easy mix ins are popped popcorn, peanuts, marshmallows or even dried strawberries. You can play up the pink and white and mix in your favorites.

Storage

This will last for about a week if you store it in an airtight container. No need to refrigerate, just store at room temperature.

Freezing – this is one of those that does hold up to the freezer. You can store in an airtight container for up to 3 months. When I thaw it, I like to pour it back onto a baking sheet, and any moisture can drip onto the baking sheet and not get stuck in the bag. It usually isn’t a problem, but if it has been in the freezer for a long time it is something to consider.
