Chili Lime Turkey Burgers – Copycat version of Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Burgers. Super easy, healthy, and great for summer grilling.
Summer is meant for a good burger. Really any time of year a good burger is a great idea. It just seems to happen more often in the summer. I like to switch up my burgers, so I am not always making the same thing. Recently I put together a list of 17 Must Try Burger Recipes for this summer. This one makes the list!
Anytime you can pile guacamole on something, I am all in! Or like these Chicken Skewers when you have an avocado dipping sauce, I am all over it.
Do you have a Trader Joe’s? They sell a chicken burger that this recipe is based on. It is full of green onions, lime and cilantro. Then grilled and topped with plenty of homemade guacamole. I always have ground turkey on hand, so that is why I used turkey here, but you can definitely use ground chicken!
Chili Lime Turkey Burgers will make you rethink turkey burgers. They are one of our favorites to make, and probably the most requested by my son. You can flavor them a million different ways, so you never get bored. Plus they are a healthier alternative to beef, so you don’t feel bad having burgers more than once a week!

I’ve never had Trader Joe’s version either (it’s been ages since I lived near one) but I used to make a similar turkey burger. I haven’t made it in a while since the ground turkey meat here is just not the same. I love the guac on top of yours! My husband used to love when I made those burgers, but I bet if I topped it with your guac, he would be over the moon! I hope your son is feeling better!!!

I hope he’s feeling better soon! We’re not quite at the sports injury age (yet) but my kids are constantly hurting themselves (be it a bonked head on a table or a twisted ankle and scraped knee from jumping off of something they’re not supposed to jump off of) ha! So, I understand the bubble wrap idea. These burgers look delicious by the way! What a great twist on an old classic to spice up any night. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have a great week!

Erin, these look wonderful–this is my kind of flavorful burger! So sorry about the son’s thumb–I’m sure he’ll heal in no time.

Ouch. I’m the same way. I would freak out if my kids get injured from sports or whatever it is. My knees get weak by just looking at it, and your bubble wrap idea sounds good. Haha. Delicious burger! I probably prefer chicken over turkey – your version sounds much juicer and tastier. Hope your son’s injury will heal fast. No matter how closely you watch your children, accident could happen…and we can’t always avoid it. Hope you are feeling better too!
Laura (Tutti Dolci) says

I don’t have kids, but the thought of football totally freaks me out. I know sports build character…but they totally break bodies too! (I’m a nut. I know.) PS: Turkey burgers are one of my favorite meals and these look exactly perfect!

Turkey burgers are easily one of my faves! Sometimes I get stuck making the same version over and over, so I loved seeing your post with a completely new-to-me recipe 🙂 Your guac sounds fantastic and your burgers look like they’re packed with flavor. YUM!

Aw, your poor little pumpkin. Sports injuries stink.
This burger is gorgeous. I have not had a turkey burger in forever. The guac looks so good. Such a cool idea.
Priscilla @ShesCookin says
Hopefully, this is the most serious injury your little guy will have to endure – it’s very hard on mama 🙂 I saw those burgers, too, and even though I shop frequently at Trader Joes, I don’t buy their ready-made food. This will be a great alternative to my go-to turkey burger.
