Any type of green leafy lettuce works great for lettuce wraps, but ideally you want something crispy and can hold up to the filling.

  • Romaine Hearts
  • Iceberg
  • Boston Bib Lettuce

Storage

The filling for these lettuce wraps can easily be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge until you are ready to serve them. It will last for 3-4 days in the fridge in an air tight container. It is best to avoid filling the lettuce cups until you are ready to eat them, or the lettuce gets soggy.

Recipe Tips

  • This works great with any ground meat. If you want to use ground turkey instead, it works just as well.
  • Don’t want to open a can of tomato sauce for just a little bit? Use ketchup!
  • Bulk up the filling by adding vegetables. Chopped Bell peppers, zucchini, carrots, or mushrooms are all great ideas.
  • Some of your family doesn’t like lettuce cups? Serve over rice or cauliflower rice if you are trying to do low carb.
