Lucky Charms cereal is “Magically Delicious”, so they are perfect to use as a twist with your classic Rice Krispie Treats. You get the same gooey marshmallow treat that you know and love, with just a small twist! The marshmallows in Lucky Charms take these over the top to a whole new level, and add that something extra that are going to keep you coming back for more.

Why You’ll Love These Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats

  • No Baking. As always when you are making cereal bars, like these or Watermelon Rice Krispie Treats there is no baking involved. Just melting marshmallows and butter, which you can do in the microwave.
  • Gooey. Trust me and skip the recipe that you find on the box of cereal. Use the extra marshmallows and make them extra gooey, delicious, and sweet.
  • Easy. These have almost the same ingredients as the classic version, just slightly. So you can always have the ingredients on hand and have these whipped up in about 5 minutes!

What You’ll Need

Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for the FULL PRINTABLE recipe card.

  • Lucky Charms
  • Marshmallows
  • Butter
  • Vanilla Extract

You will notice these are the same ingredients as the classic treats, I just use different ratios. I want my krispie treats to be denser and gooier than the original!

How To Make Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats

  • Melt. Add marshmallows and cubes of butter to a large microwave safe bowl. Heat for 60 seconds, and mix until melted and completely smooth. You can heat for an additional 20 seconds if necessary. Add in the vanilla and mix until combined.
  • Mix. Add your Lucky Charms and mix until well coated and everything is well combined. Pour into a prepared pan.
  • Set Up. Let the cereal bars set up completely before slicing into bars to serve.

Recipe Tips & Variations

  • Stovetop. If you don’t have a microwave or don’t want to use one, you can add the marshmallows and butter in a saucepan and heat over low heat until completely melted. Then continue with the recipe as directed.
  • More Marshmallows. General Mills now sells Just the Marshmallows that you could add to this and have even more marshmallows! They don’t melt, so they are great for texture and flavor.
  • Fresh Ingredients. Make sure that your ingredients are fresh. If you start with old marshmallows or stale cereal, your bars will reflect that.
  • Cereal. I used all Lucky Charms for this recipe, but it is also great if you want to use half Lucky Charms and half Rice Krispies. This gives them a little different texture and sweeter taste. Lucky Charms are not very sweet, so feel free to mix it up!

Storing Lucky Charms Rice Krispie Treats

Store these in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They will start to dry out and just lose their freshness after a couple days. You do NOT want to freezer cereal treats. The texture changes and they just do not yield the best thawed results.

Feel free to cut the recipe in half and make in an 8 inch baking pan if you are going to have more than you need.
