Peanut Butter Butterfinger dip in a bowl

I first made this peanut butter butterfinger dip almost two years ago. I shared it on a site I was writing for at the time, but never shared it here. Well a couple weeks ago, I was looking for the recipe and found it was gone. The site no longer had it up! So I knew I had to share it here, so it could live on forever.

When I made this dip the first time, my son and I could not stay out of it. So I immediately packaged it up and gave it to the neighbors. They have 2 teenage boys, and I knew it would be appreciated. Not even an hour after I gave it to them, I had a knock on the door asking for the recipe. It is that good. The neighbors receive a lot of treats from me – Puppy Chow Bars and Peppermint Chocolate Cheesecake are 2 of their favorites.

So now 2 years later, the recipe isn’t where I thought it was, and I am paging through my old notebooks of recipe ideas seeing what I can find. I finally find some notes, but it isn’t the full recipe. So I ask my neighbor, and sure enough she sill has the printed copy I gave her (it was obviously well used). So the recipe has been fully restored, and life can go on.

Last summer when my husband and I were in Hawaii, our extra freezer in the garage died. Graciously, our neighbors had lots of extra space and stored a bunch of our food until we could get it replaced. Well, I was over there transferring our food back and noticed a big thing of cool whip. I couldn’t remember buying that, so I left it in her freezer.

I asked her later to make sure that was her cool whip, and not mine. And she said, “Yep; I buy the bigger one because I make a double batch of your peanut butter butterfinger dip.” I have a reputation at their house, and with their extended family now as well.

So if you want to be the hit of the party, neighborhood, office, family, or just yourself you are going to want to whip up this dip right away. Seriously easy, just a few ingredients and so good. If you want to feel a little bit better about eating it, use apple slices to dip, they are so good!

Oh man, I’m wishing my kids had Butterfingers in their trick or treating stash so that I could “borrow” some and make this right now. I’ll have to pick some up next time I’m at the store- I need this dip asap!
