Air Fryer Asparagus – use your air fryer to make roasted asparagus that is perfectly tender and crispy. It is ready in a small fraction of the time and just as delicious!

I think asparagus might be my favorite vegetable. Aside from Mid-Western sweet corn straight from a farmer’s stand. There is just something about roasted asparagus that makes it better than other vegetables!

The only problem is roasting it can take 20-30 minutes depending on how thick it is. The solution is the air fryer, it is ready in less than 10 minutes, so it is perfect for busy nights.

Roasted asparagus is such an easy and healthy side dish that you can make with almost any meal. I like to toss with just a little bit of olive oil and then season with salt and pepper. Very basic, but super tasty. The fun thing is you can season it however you want. Lemon Pepper seasoning, Garlic Salt, use a little Parmesan Cheese. There are lots of options to mix it up to fit what you are serving it with.

The air fryer seems to be a love or hate thing. And I love cooking in it. Yes, it is loud and takes up space, but I find that even a convection oven doesn’t do as good of job as the air fryer. I think that is in part to the small cooking area vs a large oven. It can circulate the air and have a more intense heat than in the oven.

I also think getting the right air fryer matters. I believe this can be a case of you get what you pay for.

To make this recipe I used a Cosori 5.8 Qt Air Fryer. It is big enough that you can fit plenty of food in, and the basket comes out so you can easily shake, stir, or flip whatever you are making.

How To Make Air Fryer Asparagus

  1. Start by trimming your asparagus. To do this I like to hold one up and bend each end until it snaps somewhere in the middle. This is where you want to cut them all.
  2. Next season the asparagus. Toss with just a little bit of olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Place in the basket of your air fryer and cook at 400º for 9 minutes. There is no need to preheat your air fryer, the asparagus will cook perfectly in 9 minutes.
  4. Once they are done cooking remove and serve immediately.

Is Air Fryer Asparagus Healthy?

Absolutely it is very healthy. Making it in the air fryer isn’t any different then when you roast it in the oven. This entire recipe has 180 calories, which should serve 3-4 people. You really can’t beat having a side dish that is about 50 calories!

Plus each serving has about 3 grams of protein and 2 grams of fiber. So this is a vegetable you could definitely have every day and feel really good about.
