We all know those bagged salads that have a dressing packet included. Well, this is a homemade version of the salsa ranch that I love. It is an easy dressing that works as more than just a salad topper. You can use it as a dip for veggies or chips, drizzle it over tacos and burrito bowls, or spoon it onto grilled chicken and roasted vegetables. It comes together in just minutes, so you can make it any night of the week.

  • Salsa
  • Mayo
  • Milk – this helps thin to the right consistency for a dressing. You can use less or more for your desired thickness.
  • Ranch Seasoning Mix – if you don’t have a packet, Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix is great to have on hand for recipes.
  • Lime Juice
  • Taco Seasoning – store bought or if you have Homemade Taco Seasoning on hand it works great as well.

How To Make Salsa Ranch Dressing

  • Measure. Add all of the ingredients to a small bowl. If you are making it as a dip, I would start with about half of the milk and adjust after to get the right consistency.
  • Mix. Stir until everything is well combined and blended.
  • Chill. Cover and store in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

Recipe Tips & Suggestions

  • Blend. Depending on the salsa that you use, your dressing could be chunky. If you want it chunky, no problem, just mix together. But if you want it smooth, just put everything in a food processor to combine and you will get a smooth, more traditional consistency for your dressing.
  • Mayo. You can swap the mayo for Greek yogurt or sour cream. You are adding enough other ingredients, that even if you don’t like mayo (raising my hand super high), you can’t tell it is in there.
  • Dip or Dressing. This works great as a dip with tortilla chip or as a dressing for salads or to drizzle on grilled chicken. The milk can easily be adjusted if you want it thicker for a dip or thinner for a salad. If you aren’t sure, start with half the milk and then add more.
  • Serving Suggestions. A few of my favorite salads that you could use this dressing on would be Mexican Chopped Salad, Chicken Fajita Salad or a BLT Salad.

Storage

This is one of those things that I think gets better with time. So I like to make at at least a few hours before I need it. It can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 weeks. So feel free to double the recipe if you are serving a crowd!
