Chocolate Milkshake Recipe – the best way to cool off this summer is with a homemade chocolate shake topped with whipped cream and sprinkles!

Recently I had the opportunity to go an Alaska Cruise with Princess Cruises. We started in Vancouver and cruised north to Anchorage. It was a trip of a lifetime, and a definite bucket list trip. I have wanted to go to Alaska for so long, I was so happy to get the chance.
Last year when I went on the Panama Cruise, the one with Nutella Donuts, one of the highlights of the ship was having soft serve ice cream, and milkshakes available all of the time! A twist cone is a great treat in the middle of the afternoon. Strawberry Milkshakes are my husband and sons favorite, but I am more of a chocolate girl.

So after the Alaska trip, I was determined to make a thick, rich, and delicious chocolate milkshake for me. I watched closely every time we ordered one to see how they made it, so I could replicate it when I got home. And we always got sprinkles on top, so I had to make my milkshake that way too!
This chocolate shake recipe is rich and delicious! Using good quality ice cream is key. Chocolate ice cream can be really good or really bad, there isn’t an in between. So get the good ice cream for this and you will thank me.

How to Make a Chocolate Milkshake
- Good quality ice cream. Chocolate ice cream can taste fake if you get the cheap stuff. Splurge and get the good stuff for milkshakes
- A little milk – you need a little milk to get it all to come together. Whole milk will give it a richer taste.
- Mix everything together in blender and you are done! Don’t have a blender? You can use a food processor to make a milkshake or you could even use a whisk and mix by hand.
- The whipped cream on top is optional, but really why would you leave it off?!
- Sprinkles just make things more fun. They are not traditional and completely optional, but definitely fun!

The ice cream shop on the Princess Cruises ship is right near the pool. So you can get your ice cream, grab a chair and relax while you enjoy your treat. Having a chocolate milkshake in hand while cruising Glacier Bay and enjoying the scenery was the best!
