Peanut Butter Crunch Brownies – A fudgy brownie, topped with a layer of peanut butter cups, and then a layer of chocolate/peanut butter crispy fudge.  Pure chocolate and peanut butter heaven!

What is your favorite dessert?  Mine has to be brownies.  I could eat brownies pretty much every day and not get tired.  A close second would be warm chocolate chip cookies.  I have been making the same Homemade Brownies since I was probably 8 years old.

Peanut Butter Crunch Brownies

I can’t not remember where I first found this recipe. It was right after I graduated from college, I had this little flier with recipes. It had a recipe for crunch brownies that had a layer of marshmallows or marshmallow creme in the middle. And the chocolate/peanut butter krispie fudge layer on top. They were decadent, delicious and quickly became what I made all the time!

Fast forward many years, and I have changed the marshmallows to peanut butter cups, because more peanut butter is always a good idea!

  1. Start by making the brownies. Combine melted chocolate with oil and mix until smooth and well blended. Add sugar, and eggs, beat until well combined. Stir in flour and salt until the flour is just mixed in.
  2. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes, until the edges are starting to crack, and a tester comes out mostly clean.
  3. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle peanut butter cups over the brownies. Let sit for 5 minutes, then gently use the back of a spoon and spread the melted chocolate over the brownies. Let cool completely.
  4. In a microwave safe bowl melt together chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter; heat for 1 minute, stir. Heat at 15 second intervals until smooth. Stir in vanilla and cereal. Pour over brownies.
  5. Place in fridge to completely set up before serving.

Storing Brownies

Store these crunch brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days. If it is really warm, you can store in the fridge, so the fudge layer stays firm. You will just want to let them come to room temperature before serving.

Can I Use A Brownie Mix

Yes, you really just need an 8 inch square pan of brownies. I always have my favorite Homemade Brownie Mix on hand for making brownies quickly. You can use whatever your favorite recipe is. The topping is what makes these extra special!
