How To Make Salted Caramel Crumb Bars

There are only 5 ingredients, so you can make these even when you are pressed for time. These would make a great addition to just about any cookie tray. And they are even fancy enough to serve at a party.

  1. Break up 1/2 the cookie dough and press evenly in bottom of pan. Set aside the other half.
  2. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 10 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in small bowl, stir caramel topping and flour until well blended.
  4. Pour over crust in pan; carefully spread to within 1/4-inch from edge.
  5. Sprinkle salt and 1/4 cup of the pecans over caramel.
  6. In small bowl, mix remaining dough and remaining pecans until well blended. Crumble over bars in pan.
  7. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.

The base of these crumble bars is sugar cookie dough. Then you just add a few ingredients you probably have in your pantry already! People are going to think you spent forever making these layered bars. You don’t have to tell them how easy they were.

Recipe Tips & Suggestions

  • Let the bars cool some before slicing. Ideally you want to let them set up for about an hour before slicing. This lets the caramel set up and not be so runny and make a mess.
  • You can mix up the nuts and use any kind you like! Walnuts or peanuts would be great swaps.
  • Use whatever caramel sauce you have. You want the more liquid type that you would use for topping ice cream.
  • Love chocolate? You can sprinkle a few chocolate chips over the caramel layer for just a hint of chocolate.

Storage

These bars are best stored at room temperature for 3-4 days. The caramel will harden at a cold temperature, and they are best just slightly gooey.
