Ghost Cupcakes

Ghost Cupcakes – pipe ghosts onto your favorite cupcakes for a super fun, easy, and tasty Halloween treat!

I am most definitely not a crafty person. It is a running joke that my crafts turn out like a three year old. So when you see something like these Ghost Cupcakes or even my Spooky Spider Brownies, you know full well that you are capable of making them!

And not only can you make them, they will probably turn out cuter than mine.

What You’ll Need

  • Cupcakes
  • Frosting
  • Black Icing

You really can make these super simple and buy store bought cupcakes and frosting. Or you can go all out and use homemade. That is completely up to you how involved you want to get!

If you want chocolate cupcakes, I would following the recipe for these Grasshopper Cupcakes. Or you can use whatever your favorite flavor is; Lemon Cupcakes or even just White Cupcakes. And then my go-to frosting for everything in on these Frosted Sugar Cookies.

How To Make Ghost Cupcakes

  1. After your cupcakes are cooled completely you can either make or buy frosting.
  2. Fill a piping bag or ziploc storage bag with frosting. Cut off the tip, about 1/2 inch from the corner.
  3. Start on the outside and pipe circles up to the height of the ghosts that you want.
  4. Using the black frosting pipe the eyes and nose on the ghost.

Storage

You will want to store these in an airtight container, and they will last for 4-5 day. If you are making them ahead, you may want to wait to pipe on the faces until the day you serve. That part can melt or “fall” down and not look as cute a couple days later.

They do sell black food coloring, so you can definitely color your own frosting for the faces. But they also sell Black Icing Gel in the normal grocery store with the rest of the frosting. It comes in a tube that is already ready for piping and is just so easy when you need a small amount, so it is what I use.
