Crock Pot Chex Mix – Make Chex Mix in your crock pot with this super simple recipe. Down right addicting and super easy to customize.

Party Mix has been on repeat every single year in my family since before I was born. But over the years I have branched out and made different versions like Cheddar Chex Mix and Taco Chex Mix just to mix things up.

But come Christmas time, I am not allowed to venture from the classic. This Crock Pot Chex Mix is very similar to our family favorite, but in a smaller batch that you can make in your slow cooker. Doesn’t get much easier!

One of the best parts is how you can mix it up to make it your own. Use whatever cereal you want, mix in other crackers, nuts and just make it your own! I used all Corn Chex for this version, but you can use a mix of Corn, Rice and Wheat. Super easy to swap it out to make it what you want.

What You’ll Need

  • Chex Cereal – I used all corn chex, but any variety is great
  • Cheerios – I like plain Cheerios for this, but Honey Nut gives you the sweet and salty combo that works well too
  • Mini Pretzels
  • Cheese Crackers
  • Mixed Nuts
  • Butter
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Garlic Salt
  • Season Salt

How To Make Crock Pot Chex Mix

  1. Add all of the dry ingredients to the base of your crockpot and mix to combined.
  2. Melt butter and stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt and season salt.
  3. Pour butter mixture over the cereal and mix until well coated.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours, stirring every 30 minutes.
  5. After it is done cooking, pour onto a baking sheet and let cool completely.

Recipe Tip & Tricks

  • Stir Well. You want to stir the Chex mix every 30 minutes during the cooking time, but make sure to really get to the bottom and stir well. The pieces on the bottom will burn if they aren’t mixed in.
  • Mix Up Seasonings. You want about 1/2 cup of butter or oil, but you can use whatever seasonings you want for this. You can coat in cheese powder, add cayenne to make it spicy, use taco seasoning or really mix it up how you like.
  • Let It Cool. After it finishes cooking you want to let it cool completely. It will be “soggy” right away, but it crisps up well as it cools.
  • Get Creative. Us whatever you like to make this your own. Oyster crackers, pretzel sticks, different cereals, use Honey Nut Cheerios to make it sweet, mix in M&M’s and raisins after it cools. Lots of possibilities to make it your own.

Storage

Crock Pot Chex Mix will last for a couple weeks in an airtight container, if you can stay out of it that long! It also freezes really well. Store in an air tight container for up to 3 months. Just let it thaw on the counter before serving.

Because it lasts for so long, this is definitely something you can make ahead. And you want to make it at least a day before you need it, so that is cools completely and the flavors come together.
