Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for the FULL PRINTABLE recipe card.

  • Saltine Crackers – traditionally this recipe uses a full box of regular saltine crackers, but I prefer to use a box of the mini crackers. You could even use oyster crackers (you will just have to cut the rest of the ingredients down some)
  • Oil – you want a neutral flavored oil, like vegetable oil or avocado oil
  • Ranch Seasoning
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • Garlic Powder

How To Make Fire Crackers Recipe

  • Prep Crackers. Dump the crackers into a sealable plastic bag.
  • Make Oil. In a liquid measuring cup mix together the oil, ranch seasoning, red pepper flakes and garlic powder until it is well combined.
  • Season. Pour over the crackers, seal and gently toss to ensure that the crackers are evenly coated.
  • Toss. Let the crackers set for at least 8 hours to soak up the oil. You will want to toss them every couple of hours to make sure the crackers continue to be well coated.

Recipe Tips & Suggestions

  • Fresh Ingredients. Make sure to use fresh saltine crackers. I always tend to have half a box of old ones in the back of my pantry. But if they are stale, this will not revive them, and they will still be stale.
  • Crackers. I like to use mini crackers because they are easier to snack on. But you can use the normal full size ones, or you can use oyster crackers. If you use the full box of normal ones increase the oil to 1 cup and the pepper flakes to 2 Tablespoons. Oyster crackers will depend on the size bag, but you will need to reduce the oil some.
  • Spices. You can use Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix if you don’t have a packet on hand. But you can also use a mix of whatever spices you would like. Adding dill would be a tasty idea.
  • No Bake. This recipe does not require the oven to bake like other Party Mix type recipes. But if you want to speed things up, you can bake at 250º for about 20 minutes, mixing them up half way through.
Fire Crackers (also called Alabama Fire Crackers) are an easy, make-ahead snack that’s bold, crunchy, and impossible to stop eating. Made with saltine crackers and a spicy seasoning blend, they’re perfect for parties, game day, and snack boards!

Storage

These crackers will last for up to 2 weeks stored in an airtight container. So they are great to make ahead and just have waiting when you want to serve them. They are down right addicting, so they will disappear quickly.
