Greek Salad Recipe – a mix of cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, olives, and feta all tossed in a lemony Greek dressing!

I gave you a little sneak peak of this Greek Salad when I shared Chicken Souvlaki last week.  I mean Greek chicken with a tomato and cucumber salad seemed like the right thing to do!  I am such a sucker for Greek flavors and this Greek Dressing is my favorite, so I am trying to incorporate it in more recipes.

Cucumber Tomato Salad is a staple for a lot of people in the summer, but this has kalamata olives and feta added, so it is definitely a different flavor than the traditional one people think of.

Greek Salad tossed together in serving bowl

This Greek salad recipe is super simple to throw together. You really just dump everything into a bowl and toss it together.  Even the amounts are a little subject to your taste.  If you absolutely love red onions, then definitely add more.  That is the beauty of a salad like this.  You really can’t mess it up, and you can make it exactly how you like it.

I love the Greek dressing that brings it all together. It is full of lemon and olive oil, so it just brightens the flavor and makes it super fresh. You can serve with Greek Turkey Burgers for dinner. Or just about anything. It can be with Yogurt Marinated Grilled Chicken, it really goes with anything.

Cucumber, tomato, red onion, olives, and feta with greek dressing

Greek Salad Ingredients

  • Grape tomatoes that are cut in half
  • English cucumber that you dice into bite sized pieces
  • Red onion that is very thinly sliced
  • Kalamata olives that are drained and pitted if you can find them.  Or half them and remove the pit
  • Feta cheese
  • Dressing.  You can make the dressing in jar and have ready for you whenever you make this salad.  Just shake and pour over.

Can you Make Greek Salad Ahead of Time

Yes, you definitely can mix all of the ingredients together and store in the fridge until you are ready to serve.  If you are going to make more than 4 hours ahead of time, I would store the dressing separate and just pour that over when you are ready to serve.  You don’t want the lemon juice to break down the tomatoes and cucumber and make them mushy.

The dressing recipe makes more than you need, so serve over Greek pasta salad if you have leftovers or just over a side salad whatever works.  Or just make a bigger batch of this salad and you are good to go!

Summer side dishes that you bring to a party often involve mayo like the Best Potato Salad recipe, but they can be light, bright and super fresh.  Which is why I love this salad.  Asian Ramen Salad is another staple in my house in the summer and everyone always asks for the recipe.

So if you are headed to a get together of any kind, this is the perfect salad to bring.  You don’t have to worry about it going bad, and it will go with just about anything!
