Hot Crab Dip Recipe – an easy and delicious cheesy dip that will be a hit and any party. A slightly spicy crab dip that is ready in minutes.
I can’t believe that the holidays are around the corner. Time has just flown by, and will be gone before you know it. With lots of parties coming up, easy appetizers and snacks to serve at parties are a must! This hot crab dip recipe is a hit any time of year, and so is my Baked Goat Cheese Dip. I am beginning to think people just like cheese!
I am super excited for this post today. Not only is this Hot Crab Dip so good, and so easy to make, but I am partnering with one of my best friends Sandra from A Dash of Sanity. We recently got together to host a holiday party, and are here with tips on how we made it easy!
This post is sponsored by Walmart
The first thing we did was come up with a menu. We debated about a full dinner, like tangerine glazed ham, with all the sides and everything. But in the end decided a few appetizers and desserts was all we needed. That way the guests could mingle and enjoy the party. Obviously my Hot Crab Dip made the menu, but then we also added a veggie tray, and Sandra’s Classic Cheese Fondue. We cubed Italian bread for the fondue dippers, and then made some of my famous Garlic Bread as well.
For the desserts we focused on a few classics. You need cookies at a holiday party, right? Sandra’s Amazing Soft Sugar Cookies were a hit. Cookies with white frosting and festive sprinkles made them simple but delicious. I had to contribute something chocolate, because that is just what I do. So my Grasshopper Cupcakes it was! We made them into mini cupcakes, so people could enjoy more! Sandra also made Chocolate Raspberry Truffles – check out her post today to get the recipe!
For the drinks we decided on one with alcohol and one without. My Cranberry Vodka Cocktail is super simple, but festive and always disappears quickly. You can also leave out the vodka, and have a fun and fizzy cranberry drink. We also made Sandra’s Cherry Berry Spritzer. So yummy and great for any party.
So that was the menu, and it was one delicious spread I must say! But how did we make it easy? We used the Walmart Online Grocery service. It was so quick and easy! We made our grocery list, added all of the items to our online cart, and then just had to go to the store to pick them up. The best part is you pull up into a special parking spot, and they bring the groceries to you! No wandering through the aisles, waiting in lines, nothing. So easy! Totally makes you a #GroceryHero any day of the week.
The online grocery service is free, no extra fees or anything. Plus you get the same low prices that are in the store. You can do your shopping and check availability online, or you can download the app on iTunes or Google Play. Start today so you can be a #GroceryHero too!
Check out the video that Sandra and I made that documented the whole process – plus see our fun party spread!
Some of my favorite Kitchen Items I used to make this recipe
Mixing Bowls: I love having a variety of sizes of mixing bowls. From small to large, I find that having at least 3 bowls of different sizes has been an essential in my kitchen. I prefer Pyrex because of the durability.
Rubber Spatula – Nothing like being able to scrape any type of bowl clean without scratching it up. Don’t forget one of these babies to get every last bit out of your bowl.
Le Creuset Baking Dish – This was worth the splurge! I love this for baking hot dips or serving appetizers. It is sturdy, goes from the microwave to the oven to the fridge, and comes in every color you can imagine.
Measuring Cups – nothing beats a good set of measuring cups that last a long time. I love metal measuring cups because of their durability.
I created a fun group on Facebook, and I would love for you to join us! It’s a place where you can share YOUR favorite recipes, ask questions, and see what’s new at Dinners, and Desserts (so that you never miss a new recipe)! If you’d like to check it out, you can request to join HERE.

Is the crab meat raw or cooked before baking?
Erin S says
Lump crab meat you buy in the store is already cooked.
Christine says
Do you think I could put this in a small crock pot for simplicity and keeping it warm? Thanks! Looks delicious!
Erin S says
Definitely – that is what I would try if I was making it for a party and wanted it to stay warm. Enjoy!
Rebekah says
Does the cheese melt if cooked in a crockpot rather than oven? How long do you think it would take to cook?
Erin S says
Yes the cheese will melt in the crock pot. Turn on low for 3-4 hours, stirring every hour until hot and ready.

This is a great recipe! Suggestion, if you want it authentic, use lump crab meat from seafood counter, should be cold, if not, don’t buy it. not canned in the tuna aisle. Also, omit salt and hot sauce and use Old Bay seasoning both in the dip and on top(to taste) . Maryland born and raised. My husband, from California, asked if I’d pick crabs for him while I was showing him how it’s done. My response “I don’t love anyone that much!” Dead serious. Lol! This is a keeper! Thank you

I was just going to make this dip and they were out of lump crab meat in the the meat section. Has anybody used the cans of bumble bee lump crab meat?
Erin S says
I have made it with imitation crab meat before and it was still delicious. Better with the real stuff obviously, but tasty and still works with the other stuff.
Rebecca says
Delicious!! The only thing that I changed: I added two large cloves of freshly pressed garlic. I definitely recommend adding garlic! My husband is on. KETO diet, and he has his crab dip with celery instead of chips or crostini, he said it was amazing.
Janelle says
What is the serving size?
Erin S says
Janelle,
The recipe serves about 8 people.
Sandra McCollum says

Laverne says
Made with fake crab from seafood market, substituted mozzarella for cheddar (too strong-flavored).
Dinner group really loved it, finished it off too quickly with none leftover!!
