Butterscotch Blondies – soft and chewy blonde brownies that are loaded with butterscotch! A buttery and sweet treat that is easy to make!
My family loves blondies. I am usually a chocolate person when it comes to desserts, but there is something about a buttery and brown sugar based dessert that I love. And I will take blondies in any form! You can even add chocolate and make Chocolate Chunk Blondies!
When I was growing up the closest my mom ever made were these Fudge Nut Bars. They were a brown sugar and oatmeal based cookie that is absolutely amazing. Plus they have a layer of chocolate fudge, so you can win over all the chocolate lovers in you life!

Butterscotch is a really under rated flavor and needs to be in more desserts! These Butterscotch Cookies are always a hit around here, so it should come as no surprise that adding them to blonde brownie recipe would be a good idea!
How to Make Blondies
Blondies are one of the easiest desserts to make because you don’t need a mixer.
- Star by mixing together melted butter and brown sugar until it is nice and smooth.
- Next mix in the egg and vanilla until everything is well combined.
- The flour and salt get mixed in next. You don’t want to over mix here, just until everything is combined.
- Fold in the butterscotch chips and your batter is done.
- Pour into a line or well greased baking pan and bake for about 20-25 minutes until they are dry on the top and the edges are golden.
The brown sugar gives these so much flavor, they are just buttery and delicious! So they are great for anything you want to mix in! Like maybe Oreos? Oreo Blondies anyone?

This recipe has been on my blog since the very beginning, and now it is time for a face lift! We have new pictures and a recipe that you can actually follow and print out. Originally there was white chocolate chips in this recipe as well. And as good as that is, I kind of love just straight butterscotch. So I have updated the recipe after testing it more to make sure it as perfect!
This butterscotch blondie recipe comes together in just minutes. You can literally be eating them about 40 minutes after you have the idea to make them. And that includes a little cooling time! Which honestly as you smell the baking is by far the hardest part.

I recently got to go on a tour of the Jaguars stadium on a field trip for one of my classes at school. Most of it was the kitchens and food prep areas that we toured, and it totally blew my mind how many people it takes to pull it all together and how much food is served. That didn’t even touch all the private vendors in the stadium. The owner’s box was unbelievable! There are definitely people who have way more money than I do on this planet!
Erin says
We didn’t get to see the kitchens or anything like that. We got to see a couple of the suites and the clubs. Amazing how much money people spend to sit and watch a football game!

I love the blondies with white chocolate, semi sweet chocolate and butterscotch chips….but any of the above would be good alone or paired together. These would make my family happy! Thanks for the sweet words of condolence, Erin.

Oh nom nom nom. This looks super good. I am not a football fan. I know right. How weird am I? I also don’t like hockey which is downright un-Canadian!

Yum, I love butterscotch blondies! I will have to try these. Yes, the weather here was very nice on Saturday although Sunday was a bit chilly. There are usually some really nice days in February here.
Nami | Just One Cookbook says
That’s nice that you had nice weather over the weekend. We had rainy stormy weather here (but I can’t complain as it was pretty much the first week we had rain in months). Your son likes football already! That’s nice… my husband *wish* that our 5 yo son is more into it. 49ers lost big time but no one in the family cared besides my husband! Poor guy. lol. Anyhow…. the blondies look yum! I love white chocolate and I can see this looks yummy!
Peggy says
