Cranberry Gin Cocktail Recipe – A delicious and festive cocktail with cranberry juice, gin, and a splash of triple sec.
We all know that I love a good holiday drink. Anything with cranberry or pomegranate is festive and it should be part of all holiday drinks! Cranberry Moscow Mules is a classic that gets a twist for the holidays.
Normally you have a Vodka Cranberry with Lime. It is a traditional drink that almost everyone enjoys. But you know what else goes really well with cranberry juice? Gin!
You don’t normally see gin in a lot of cocktails. There is the normal Gin & Tonic, but I always feel like I want to mix it with more things. Which is how this cranberry gin fizz was born. I always have cranberry juice on hand. Especially this time of year I like to buy the little bottles so I can add it to drinks or just make 1 cocktail at a time. And from my experience with baking our favorite Cranberry Bread, I know that orange goes really well with cranberry.
What is a good mix with gin? From my testing gin tends to go well with fruit juices. You can do pineapple and orange for a fruity and tropical version. Or if you like something more tart you can mix with grapefruit juice. Experiment with different juices and see what you like best.
To make this gin and cranberry cocktail I also mixed in a little triple sec. Triple Sec is an orange flavored liqueur so I knew it would mix well with the cranberry. And because I love a fizzy drink I topped with a slash of ginger ale. This part is optional, but I love the hint of sweetness and fizz that it adds to the drink.
I garnished with an orange slice, so it would give you a hint as to what else is in the drink and lime, because cranberry and lime just go well together. Plus plenty of fresh cranberries. You can use frozen cranberries as well, they will just help keep it chilled.
Making this cranberry gin drink is super easy. Everything gets mixed together in a glass. There is no shaker, no muddling or anything extra required. Just pour all of the ingredients in a glass filled with ice, and mix. Top with the ginger ale at the last minute so the drink stays nice and fizzy when you serve it.
So if you are looking to mix up your cocktails, trust me and try this Gin and Cranberry. It is definitely a little unconventional, but so good!
