Vodka Gimlet Recipe –  a classic cocktail with sweetened lime juice and vodka. It is cool, refreshing, and the perfect balance of sweet and tart!

When you go out for drinks or dinner do you have a favorite cocktail that you order?  A Vodka Cranberry is one of my favorites, and so easy to make at home.  This vodka gimlet is a go to for my dad.

Every Saturday night my parents make a vodka gimlet at home, or if they go out, it is what they order.  It is such a refreshing cocktail and so easy to make.  Last year I made a Pomegranate Vodka Gimlet that was fun and a nice twist. But this is the classic vodka gimlet recipe.

What Is A Vodka Gimlet

This is a classic cocktail that is so easy to make. It really just has 2 ingredients.  Vodka and sweetened lime juice.  Mix and pour over ice!  Can’t get much easier than that.  Similar to a Vodka soda, but without the fizziness.

I like mine a little heavier on the lime juice. It is super easy to make those adjustments at home. You can mess around with the ratios and find what you think is perfect.

Classic cocktails are so easy to make and always a staple. This vodka gimlet is just 2 ingredients!

How do you make a Vodka Gimlet

I like to start with a 2 to 1 ratio.  That is 2 parts vodka to 1 part sweetened lime juice.  If you don’t have sweetened lime juice you can do fresh lime and simple syrup to make up the 1 part.

For example you would use

  • 4 oz vodka to 1 oz fresh lime and 1 oz simple syrup
  • 4 oz vodka to 2 oz sweetened lime juice

The most important part is the ice. You want to fill a glass completely with ice before pouring in your cocktail. You want to make sure it is super cold and refreshing. The vodka obviously plays a major part in a vodka gimlet, so use a good quality vodka. Tito’s, Absolute or Grey Goose are some of my favorites.

This vodka gimlet recipe is super easy last minute, or you can make it ahead if you are entertaining. There are instructions in the recipe card below for the amounts you would need to make a pitcher.

Just make sure it stays nice and cold until it is time to serve. A vodka gimlet it best served ice cold!
