Whiskey Sour Recipe – a classic whiskey cocktail that is sweet and tangy and delicious. Super easy to make and great for any occasion.
Are you a whiskey drinker? I will admit it is not something that I gravitate towards. I don’t know much about it though, so I feel like quality and picking a flavor profile you like is important. I know that I do like it in a mixed drink though! Whiskey Sour Punch is something I made years ago that it still asked for at parties.
I have been on a mission to try the classic cocktails this year. Drinks like a Gin & Tonic and French 75 that have been around forever!
What is a Whiskey Sour
It is a classic mixed drink with lemon juice, sugar, and whiskey. Over the years lime juice has been added. You will sometimes see it with an egg white foam on top. It is traditionally served over ice, in a square glass with an orange slice, lemon rind, and maraschino cherry for garnish.
Whiskey Sour Ingredients
- Lemon Juice
- Lime Juice
- Simple Syrup
- Whiskey
- Maraschino Cherry for garnish
This whiskey sour recipe is simple and refreshing. Just a couple ingredients come together to make a tasty cocktail. You want to make sure to use real lemon and lime juice, not the stuff from the bottle. Since there are just a few ingredients, you want to make sure they are all high quality. It is worth squeezing a little fruit to get this drink, trust me!
How To Make A Whiskey Sour
I like to use a martini shaker to make this recipe, but it really doesn’t matter what you use. As long as you can mix together all of the ingredients and pour into a glass, you are good. I like the shaker because I can have ice in there and make sure that everything is super cold. Cocktails like this are best served super cold! So at the very least make sure you serve your whiskey sour over plenty of ice.
If you don’t have a shaker, a small pitcher or even a liquid measuring cup works. Just add the ingredients and stir well! Then pour over ice, making sure to strain out any pulp that from the lemons or limes. Then add a cherry to each glass when you serve. A boozy soaked cherry is a perfect way to end your drink.
