This is definitely a more than just for brunch cocktail. This would be great for New Years, a cookie exchange, a holiday party, or simply because you want something bubbly and fun!
How To Make Pomegranate Mimosa
- Combine the juices – Pour the orange juice and pomegranate juice into a pitcher, stirring to mix them together.
- Add the bubbly – Gently pour in the chilled sparkling wine, stirring carefully to keep the bubbles.
- Serve and garnish – Pour the mimosa into glasses, adding a few pomegranate seeds on top for a festive touch if desired. Enjoy immediately!
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Chill your ingredients – Make sure the orange juice, pomegranate juice, and sparkling wine are well-chilled before mixing to keep the mimosas refreshing without needing extra ice.
- Opt for a dry sparkling wine – Using a brut or dry sparkling wine balances the sweetness of the juices, making the drink feel lighter and less sugary.
- Make it non-alcoholic – Swap the sparkling wine with sparkling water or a non-alcoholic sparkling wine for a family-friendly version that’s just as festive.
- Add a twist of lime – For a subtle zing, squeeze a bit of lime juice into the mix or add a lime wedge as a garnish for a bright, citrusy note.
- Adjust to taste – Experiment with the ratio of pomegranate to orange juice depending on how sweet or tart you want the final flavor.
- Serve in a pitcher for easy refills – If you’re hosting, mix a large batch in a pitcher to make serving easy, keeping it chilled on ice until ready to pour.
It’s best to mix the orange juice and pomegranate juice ahead, but wait to add the sparkling wine until just before serving to keep the mimosas bubbly and fresh.
Substitute the sparkling wine with sparkling water, ginger ale, or a non-alcoholic sparkling wine for a family-friendly option that still feels festive.
What Champagne Is Best For Mimosas
You really just want to use something that you enjoy the taste of. The juices will make even a cheap bottle of sparkling wine decent, but if you really want it to shine, you want something you like.
I like to go middle of the road, around a $10 bottle. My liquor stores sell a bottle that is close to $5, and I always skip that one. But much higher than $12 and I think it gets covered by the juices and is not worth the increase in price.
