Warm Vanilla Cider – Warm up this fall with a glass of hot apple cider. Fresh vanilla bean is mixed in for a warm and delicious flavor. Topped off with homemade whipped cream for a special treat!

Fall is the time for anything apple. I love going to the farmers market and picking up fresh apple cider and making apple cider donuts at home.  I am all for everything apple all the time.  And sometimes just a glass of apple cider is enough.

Dressing up apple cider with vanilla, brown sugar, and fresh whipped cream makes it extra special. Almost like you are drinking your dessert. So make Caramel Apple Pie Bars and sit down with a glass of warm vanilla cider for one epic treat!

Hot apple cider is pretty much the drink of fall and this vanilla cider version just takes it to a whole new level.  I am one of those people that think there is never enough vanilla extract in a recipe.  So adding vanilla beans to apple cider makes it extra rich and delicious.

You can buy those apple cider packets near the hot chocolate to make apple cider cookies which are great for fall.  But don’t use those packets for this apple cider drink.  This needs the fresh stuff or it will not be the same!

How to Make Hot Apple Cider

  • In a large saucepan combine apple cider, brown sugar, and vanilla bean seeds. Whisk until everything is combined. Bring to a simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, whip heavy cream powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks.
  • To serve, divide cider among 8 mugs and top with a scoop of whipped cream.

Recipe Tips & Suggestions

  • The best thing to do is to buy a bottle of fresh apple cider from the farmer’s market, a local orchard or even the grocery store.  Skip the stuff in the juice aisle, you want the fresh stuff they have in the produce section.
  • If you are throwing a party you can pour it into your crock pot and heat on low.  Or just use a large saucepan or stock pot and heat it over a medium heat on the stove.  Be sure to heat the apple cider slowly so you don’t burn it.
  • Whipped Cream is optional, but takes it to a whole new level! You can use the store bought stuff in place of making your own as well.
  • Want even more spice? Add a little ground cinnamon to the top when you serve.
  • Use vanilla beans! They will yield the most flavor and best results. But in a pinch you can use 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or vanilla paste.
