The Big Mac Sloppy Joe is a fun twist on the classic! All the flavors of the Big Mac you know in love in a knew form.
McDonald’s Big Mac has been around for decades, it is a true classic in every sense of the word. So today we are throwing two old classics together with the Sloppy Joe and the Big Mac. It is a delicious, easy, fast, and fun dinner you can make any night of the week!
These Big Mac Sloppy Joes start with ground beef and onions that are cooked together and then seasoned. So the meat tastes just like a hamburger patty. I have used this same seasoning blend to make Big Mac Wraps and my Big Mac Salad, which are both huge hits as well.
Everything comes together with a little Big Mac Sauce or you can use store bought burger sauce, Homemade Thousand Island or store bought is an easy swap as well that gives almost the same flavor. And of course you can’t forget lettuce, cheese, and pickles!
And if you want it to be the full fast-food like experience, serve with my Air Fryer French Fries. The same concept, only homemade and SO much better!
What You’ll Need
Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for the FULL PRINTABLE recipe card.
- Ground beef – For best results, use lean ground beef.
- Salt
- Black pepper – Use freshly cracked pepper.
- Garlic powder
- Worcestershire sauce
- Hamburger Buns
- Shredded Lettuce
- Pickles
For the Big Mac Sauce:
- Mayonnaise – This can be regular mayo or tangy Miracle Whip.
- Pickle Relish – I use sweet pickle relish but you can use dill pickle relish if you prefer.
- Dijon Mustard – Or yellow mustard works as well
- White Vinegar – White wine vinegar will work, too.
- Seasonings – Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and white pepper. Black pepper works too, if you don’t mind the black flecks in the sauce.
How To Make Big Mac Sloppy Joes
- Make the sauce. Put all of the Big Mac sauce ingredients in a bowl, and whisk together until smooth. Transfer the sauce to an airtight container, and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to cook.
- Cook the beef. Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Make sure to break the beef into small pieces. When it’s done cooking, drain the grease.
- Season the beef. Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce to the beef, and stir until well combined. Remove the beef from the heat and stir in 1 cup of Big Mac Sauce to the mixture until nice and creamy.
- Assemble. Add sliced cheese to each bun, scoop a hearty serving of the beef mixture and top with pickles and lettuce. Add as much extra sauce as you like!
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Drain excess grease. Depending on the type of ground beef you use, you may have almost no extra fat or quite a bit. Either way you want to get rid of it or your sloppy joes will be greasy and not idea.
- Don’t want to make your own sauce? No worries, you can use store bought burger sauce, almost every grocery store has their own brand these days. Or in a pinch you can use Thousand Island dressing.
- Use different meat. You can mix it up and use ground turkey for this recipe.
- Cheese. American cheese is obviously the standard when it comes to a Big Mac, but let’s face it when you are at home, you don’t always want to use those processed slices. So sliced Cheddar is a great swap!
What To Serve With Big Mac Sloppy Joes
It may be old fashioned, but this feels like a fast food meal to me. So I like to serve those kinds of sides. But you could absolutely serve Roasted Asparagus or Roasted Brussel Sprouts.
Storage
Any leftover meat can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days. You can reheat in the microwave and assemble your sloppy joe as desired.
