Why You’ll Love These Jello Shots
- Fun – Complete with the salted rim, these will be a hit! Everyone is going to love these and be asking for them again and again.
- Easy – there is no layering like in my Red, White & Blue Jello Shots, so these are super simple and easy to make.
- Tasty – strawberry and lime is a great combo that just works! Sweet and tart you are going to love these little bites.
What You’ll Need
- Strawberry Jello
- Tequila
- Water
- Limes
- Coarse Salt (optional)
How To Make Strawberry Margarita Jello Shots
- Mix together boiling water and the strawberry Jello in a bowl until it is fully dissolved. Stir well for about 2 minutes for this to happen.
- Pour in tequila and the rest of the cold water, mix until well combined.
- Pour evenly into 12 2-ounce cups and place in the fridge for about 2 hours, or until they are completely set.
- Once the cups have completely set up, rib the rim with a lime, or dip in lime juice. Then place on a plate with kosher salt, margarita salt or even sugar to coat the rim.
- Garnish with a fresh lime to serve.
What Tequila To Use for Strawberry Margarita Jello Shots
These will taste strong when you first have them, but there really isn’t that very much alcohol in each shot. But because that is a dominating flavor, you want to use something good, a high quality tequila. If you use the super cheap stuff, you will taste it and not enjoy it.
I think they taste best with a white, silver or blanco tequila.
How Long Does It Take Jello Shots To Set
It will take about 2 hours in the fridge for them to completely set up, so that you can invert them and coat the rim in salt or sugar.
How Long Do Jello Shots Last
They last for about a week is they are covered in the fridge. So these are great to make ahead for your get together, and then you can line the rim with sugar or salt when you are ready to serve.
What Cups Work For Jello Shots
I find these 2-ounce disposable cups to be perfect because they also come with a lid, so you can store them in the fridge or make them ahead and not have them dry out.
