Pro Tip
Make Green Olive Dip Ahead! The really nice this about this dip recipe is you can make it the day before and just have it sitting in the fridge waiting for you.
You want to let the dip sit for at least 3 hours before serving, so making the day ahead just gives more time for the flavors to combine.

How to Make Olive Dip
- In a large bowl mix together cream cheese and mayo together until it is blended and smooth.
- Add the olives, cheese, and garlic and mix until everything is evenly incorporated.
- Place in the fridge until you are ready to serve.
Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Because you aren’t melting this dip, you can use the pre-shredded cheese. But I still think that shredding your own tastes the best. But use what you have!
- Pretty much any green olive will work. Just coarsely chop them, all about the same size, so they give the dip texture. You could even do a mix of black and green olives for a fun twist.
- You can definitely make this dip ahead, it will last for a few days in the fridge. So mix it up the day before and let the flavors come together.
- Want to serve warm? You can bake this or put it in the crockpot to get a gooey, melty, and creamy dip that is equally delicious.
- Don’t like mayo? Sour cream or even plain Greek yogurt will work great instead.

What To Dip in Green Olive Dip
You really can serve with just about anything, you can have some healthier options and you can have some fun options for people to pick from.
- Tortilla Chips
- Fat Free Potato Chips
- Carrots
- Celery
- Bell Peppers
- Crackers
One fun way to mix up this dip is to turn it into pinwheels. You can use a tortilla like my Pinwheel Sandwich Recipe or you can use puff pastry like these Green Olive Pinwheels.
Storage
This dip will last for 3-4 days in the fridge. You will want to cover with plastic wrap or store in an airtight container. This is NOT a dip that you want to freeze. So if you need to only make half of the recipe, definitely cut it down if necessary.
When you are ready to serve, just let it sit out for a few minutes to warm up slightly. It will firm up and be hard to dip right when you take it out.

This is incredibly delicious! Love how versatile this dip is, looking forward to trying this!
My mom used to make an appetizer that I would beg for as a snack as a kid: a Ritz cracker, thin slice of sharp cheddar, a dollop of sour cream topped with a green olive. Thanks for bringing that into a simple dip!!
Just made this dip for the first time and it is delicious!
I want to make this dip – it looks delicious! What’s your recommendation on the cheese – mild or sharp? Also, block or pre-shredded? Thanks!!
Any cheese will work. If you like a strong cheddar, than you can use sharp. Block cheese doesn’t have an additives, so it can taste better. But really whatever you have and like is great.
