Air Fryer Green Bean Fries – crispy green bean fries that are made in the air fryer! They are the perfect healthy side dish or even appetizer for just about any meal.

If you are anything like me, you struggle to get your kids and family to eat their vegetables. So you have to get a little creative to get them interested. And turning green beans into crispy crunchy fries, is a delicious way for everyone to enjoy vegetables.

If you serve green bean fries with Canes Sauce or your favorite dipping sauce it makes them even better, and everyone will be going back for more.

These green bean fries could not be simpler to make. It does take a little bit of time to coat all the green beans, but you can work in batches and it really doesn’t take that long! Plus thing to get the kids to help with!

Obviously you need an air fryer for this recipe, but I have included baking instructions below as well, in case you need them.

What You’ll Need

  • Fresh Green Beans
  • Panko Breadcrumbs
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Eggs
  • All-Purpose Flour

How To Make Green Bean Fries

Be sure to scroll all the way down for full ingredient list, measurements and step by step printable directions

  1. The first thing to do is get your green beans ready. You want to wash them, and cut off the ends. You want them dry, so either pat them dry or do this step enough ahead of time they can air dry.
  2. Next set up a little breading station. Have 3 bowls in front of you. Fill the 1st one with flour. Beat the eggs in the second bowl. And the 3rd bowl will have the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  3. Working with a few green beans at a time, drop them in the flour and toss them around to coat evenly in the flour. Then add them the eggs and mix until they are nice and coated. Then add them to the panko mixture and press the breadcrumbs into the beans.
  4. Set the coated green beans on a baking sheet or something while you continue with the rest of them.
  5. Arrange green beans in a single layer in your air fryer basket. You want to make sure they aren’t touching or on top of each other. Cook at 390º for 5 minutes, gently flip them and cook for an additional 5 minutes until they are nice and crispy.
  6. Remove from the air fryer and continue with another batch of necessary.

To make this recipe I used a Cosori 5.8 Qt Air Fryer. It is big enough that you can fit plenty of food in, and the basket comes out so you can easily shake, stir, or flip whatever you are making.

Can I Bake Green Bean Fries

Yes, you absolutely can! The only thing that changes is the cooking method. So follow the instructions for breading the green beans and then you put them in the oven.

I like to put them on a wire rack over a baking sheet, so that the air circulates better and they get crispier faster. Cook at 400º for about 12 minutes. Check them, and flip if necessary. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until they are golden and crispy. If you have a convection oven it helps to get them even crispier in the oven.

What To Serve With Green Bean Fries

These are a great side dish you can serve with just about anything. But here are a few of my favorite ideas.

If you are looking for dipping sauces there are lots of options! Ranch Dressing is always a good idea. The Spicy Mayo in my Air Fryer Coconut Shrimp Recipe is delicious. Or this Spicy Cajun Dip has lots of great flavor.

  1. Well, if this doesn’t get a veggie hater to eat their veggies, then nothing will. All I need now is some ranch!
