Crisp apples, white wine, spiced rum, and the bubbles from a tasty ginger beer all finished with a hint of cinnamon make the perfect Fall Sangria.
If you’re like me, you like a good glass of wine every now and then. Mainly, I am a red wine drinker, but every once in a while I like a good chilled, crisp white wine. My favorite being a cold glass of Chardonnay because it is always refreshing, no matter the season.
This fall sangria is the perfect way to enjoy that cold glass of white wine, even in the autumn air! It is refreshing and flavorful and full of warm fall flavors.

Ingredients You’ll Need
Sangria is a fun cocktail to make any time of year. You can make it with red wine, white wine, or even rose. Use colorful seasonal fruits and make it fun! Here’s what I used to make this tasty Fall inspired Sangria:
- White Wine- There’s no need to use anything expensive for this recipe. The cider and other spiced ingredients are the predominant flavors, but do find something that fits your taste buds whether that be oaky, sweet or dry.
- Apples– Use your favorite variety of apple. I love honeycrisp apples because they are crisp and sweet, but a tart apple would be equally delicious.
- Apple Cider– Adds a delicious spiced flavor without any extra effort.
- Spiced Rum– Adds a depth of flavor and an a little extra zip of alcohol.
- Ginger Beer– Makes every sip perfectly fizzy along with ginger essence.
- Cinnamon Sticks– Infuses the pitcher with that delicious fall flavor without being overpowering. The longer the cinnamon has to infuse, the more intense the spiced flavors will be. Plus, it looks pretty.
I wanted to use fall fruits, so I picked apples and apple cider to really bring out the flavor, but you can use anything you’d like such as oranges, lemons, pomegranate or even limes. This was the perfect sweet, fizzy, and delicious treat for a Saturday afternoon. And wine-soaked apples are delicious to snack on, wink, wink.
How Far In Advance Should You Make Sangria?
In my experience (and I’ve made this recipe a few times) the perfect time to make a pitcher is the day before you’re planning on enjoying a little fall flavor. This gives the pitcher plenty of time to chill and allows the apples to soak up all of the delicious wine and cinnamon notes you would expect in a Fall Sangria.
Short on time? No problem. As long as you give the ingredients an hour or two to chill and merry, you’ll still have a flavorsome glass. In fact, the apples will be so fresh and crisp, you won’t even notice that the cinnamon hasn’t had a chance to incorporate.
What Is The Best Time Of Year To Make This?
Who am I to tell you when to kick your feet up and have a refreshing drink? All joking aside, this Apple Cider Sangria screams autumn. If you’re a sucker for hayrides, corn mazes, pumpkin carving, and watching spooky movies, this is exactly what you’ll want to sip on for the season.
That’s not to say that you can’t enjoy the flavors this drink has to offer all year round. If you’re making this in the spring or summer, replace the cider with some sparkling water or apple juice for a refreshing and hydrating sip and swap over to summer berries.
How To Make The Perfect Fall Sangria
- First, chop up the apples and place them inside of the pitcher.
- Next, place the cinnamon sticks on top of the apples.
- Then, grab the wine, cider, and rum and pour them all into the pitcher.
- When you’re ready to serve the sangria, pour the ginger beer over the top of the other ingredients.
- Serve chilled for the most refreshing experience.
Tips and Tricks
- Add more fruit. Apples are a great addition for this fall sangria, but you can add a variety of fruits to customize this drink and make it even more delectable. Try pears, raspberries, or blackberries for some additional flavor, color, and nutrition.
- Make it family-friendly. Want to skip the alcohol? No problem. You can still enjoy the flavors of this drink without it. Skip the wine and rum and add some club soda or tonic water instead. You’ll never know the difference and the kids will love it too!
- Double up. Throwing a fall party or prepping for an eventful weekend? Double up this recipe so you’re ready to raise your glass as soon as the mood strikes! It’s an incredibly affordable way to make sure everyone stays refreshed, entertained, and in the fall spirit.
- Chill and Serve Over Ice- Make the sangria and chill it, but pour over ice. Do not place the ice into the sangria and then store it in the fridge, it will dilute your perfect concoction.
Make Ahead and Storage
This Fall Sangria is best served chilled, so don’t be afraid to make it ahead of time.
It is best enjoyed the same day it is made or the following day, but it will keep up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Be advised that the longer the apples soak, the more the alcohol begins to break them down. If you want the crispest apples in your sangria, try to enjoy it before day three. If you’re planning on adding any softer fruits or berries to this recipe, avoid adding them until you pour in the ginger beer to serve.
If you love this Fall Sangria as much as I do, make sure you share it with your friends so they can try it too! Don’t forget to Pin it so you can make it again soon.
