Easy Instant Pot Recipes for Beginners – 30 recipes for the Instant Pot that are perfect for beginners. If you aren’t sure how to use it, or where to start these are great easy recipes!
So you got your first Instant Pot, now what? So many people get one and are scared to use it. They are afraid it will explode or they will mess up and their food won’t turn out. First of all, it won’t explode! It isn’t the same as the old pressure cookers that your grandma had when you were a kid.
Todays Instant Pot is electric, so it has locks and sensors and is perfectly safe to use. You can’t open the lid when it is locked, so there are no worries about anything bad happening.
Figuring out what to start with when you first get your Instant Pot can be intimidating. So I am here with 30 easy recipes that range in difficulty. Some start with just a few ingredients that you add, set it and you are done. A couple of them have you sauté first, and then add the rest of the ingredients. But they are all EASY and perfect if you are new to pressure cooking or just looking for a new recipe to try.
Instant Pot Recipes For Beginners
Instant Pot Recipes - 30 recipes for the Instant Pot that are perfect for beginners. If you aren't sure how to use it, or where to start these are great easy recipes!
Instant Pot Salsa Chicken - Use the pressure cooker to make salsa chicken that is tender, juicy, and flavorful. Great for tacos, enchiladas, salads, quesadillas and more! This recipe takes just a few ingredients that you add to the Instant Pot all at once, and then set the timer. Once it it done you use the quick release method to unlock. Then just shred your chicken!
Instant Pot Corn on the Cob - an easy side dish you can make all summer long. The corn comes out juicy, tender, and perfect every time! When I was growing up my mom always made corn in the pressure cooker. With an Instant Pot it is even easier, and definitely my go to method. It is done so fast, and it is always perfectly cooked.
Instant Hard Boiled Eggs - make the perfect hard boiled eggs anytime in just minutes using your Instant Pot! I know that using a pot of water is easy as well, but trust me and try it in the Instant Pot. The eggs peel really well and there is not watching a pot of water involved.
Instant Pot French Dip Sandwiches - make super tender and juicy french dip sandwiches in a fraction of the time using the instant pot! Dinner doesn't get much easier than this! Just pour a few things into the Instant Pot and you get the most tender and juicy sandwiches. A crock pot can take all day, which is great, but sometimes you don't have all day and want it faster!
Instant Pot Salsa Verde Chicken - make chicken in just minutes using the instant pot. Super tender, juicy, and tons of flavor. The Instant Pot is the only way I will cook shredded chicken. I think it gets dry in the crock pot, no matter how much liquid is used or the amount of time cooked. But in the Instant Pot it stays juicy and I like it so much better!
Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes - Make the perfect creamy, tender buttery mashed potatoes with this super easy recipe! Everyone has their favorite way to make mashed potatoes, and usually mine is the most hands off method. With the Instant Pot, you just set the time and let it cook. There is not monitoring a pot on the stove to make sure it doesn't boil over. Such an easy recipe.
Instant Pot Spanish Rice - tastes just like the Mexican rice for your local Mexican restaurant. It comes together in just minutes, with pantry staple ingredients you probably have on hand already! This is our go-to for taco night. It is so easy and taste just like the restaurant.
Instant Pot BBQ Chicken - sweet and tangy, fall apart tender and juicy chicken. It is ready in minutes and perfect for sandwiches, salads, wraps, or to just eat with a fork! When you use your favorite barbecue sauce you get tons of flavor and it is so darn easy! You can make big batches and freezer for later. You can even start with frozen chicken, just check the recipe for the instructions.
Instant Pot Jasmine Rice - make the perfect rice every time with your Instant Pot! Just a few minutes and you have fluffy jasmine rice. Rice is so easy to make, but believe it or not the Instant Pot makes it even easier. You don't have to fuss over the exact right temperature, no stirring involved, and you get the perfect rice in no time.
Instant Pot Sweet Potatoes - The fastest and easiest way to cook sweet potatoes! They are ready in 30 minutes and come out perfectly silky smooth every time! Sweet potatoes can normally take so long in the oven, but this gets them ready in no time. I mashed them here, but you don't have to. Just take them out and serve the halves as is if you desire.
Cafe Rio Chicken - easy and delicious shredded chicken that tastes just like Cafe Rio. Great for salads, burritos, tacos, quesadillas and more! Cafe Rio is a quick service Mexican restaurant in the West, and one of my favorites. Their chicken is so good, and great to make big batches of at home for so many uses.
Instant Pot Country Style Ribs - make super tender, flavorful and juicy pork with just a simple dry rub and the Instant Pot. Top with your favorite barbecue sauce for and over the top delicious dinner! My family loves pulled pork, and this is such a great way to get it in no time. You don't need a smoker, it doesn't take hours, and is absolutely delicious.
Instant Pot Chicken and Rice - an easy dinner that is deliciously creamy and cheesy with tender flavorful chunks of chicken. A great weeknight meal you can get on the table in minutes! Everyone loves a meal in minutes, but this is great because you have the rice and chicken cook together in the Instant Pot. Then you stir in peas at the end, so you really have a complete meal on the table in no time.
Instant Pot Chicken Tacos - make taco night extra tasty with this flavorful and easy chicken! Great for tacos, salads, quesadillas, burritos and more all week long! I love an Instant Por recipe that can do double duty. It makes dinner for me tonight, and gives me leftovers that I can repurpose all week long. No extra work or time involved either, which is great.
Instant Pot Crack Chicken - a delicious combination of cream cheese, chicken, ranch dressing mix, bacon, and cheddar cheese that all comes together in a creamy and delicious meal! Love or hate the name of the recipe, it is what it is. It has been called this for decades, so I use it for people to know what it is. Either way, it is super creamy and delicious chicken that I like best served on a bun as a sandwich.
Instant Pot Pozole - a simple and comforting pozole recipe you can make in no time. It is super easy to make, loaded with flavor and a great Mexican inspired dinner. This is probably the most complicated recipe on the list. And that is only because you have to make a salsa verde by roasting veggies in the oven first. There are tips on how to take a short cut there, but after that is made, you literally dump everything in the Instant Pot and it cooks it to perfection. This is our all time favorite soup and on constant rotation, year round.
Instant Pot Chicken Adobo - a Filipino comfort food made with chicken thighs. Tender thighs coated in a sweet and savory glaze with a kick of heat from black peppercorns taste absolutely delicious. If you haven't ever tried adobo, you really should give this recipe a try. It has so much flavor, the recipe includes instructions for using chicken thighs or breasts, and it is just so easy. A great way to impress people without doing much work!
Instant Pot Pork Tenderloin - a tender and juicy pork tenderloin that is cooked in the instant pot with an easy mushroom sauce! This recipe gives you a sauce to serve over your pork, so it is "fancy". But don't worry, it is so easy! A pork tenderloin is such a great and easy cut of meat to cook with. Just pay attention to the cooking time, you don't want to over cook the pork or it will be dry.
Instant Pot Jambalaya - make jambalaya with chicken, sausage and shrimp in the pressure cooker! Ready quickly and super easy to make. Now this looks hard, right? You have chicken, sausage, shrimp and rice! Lots of different components, but it isn't hard. The shrimp get added right at the end, so you don't over cook them. I highly recommending using chicken thighs, so the chicken doesn't dry out as you cook the rice and sausage. But all the tips are in the recipe.
Instant Pot Chicken Wings - get ready for game day, your next party or just a fun appetizer with this easy recipe. Chicken Wings cook in the pressure cooker in no time and are absolutely delicious! This is one of those recipes that has an optional 2nd step to make them just that much better. The chicken cooks in the Instant Pot and gets tender, but then you can put them under the broiler with sauce to get that nice crispiness that wings are known for. The trivet that comes with the Instant Pot keeps the chicken out of the water, so it doesn't get soggy. If you haven't made wings before, this is a great way to start!
Instant Pot Meatballs - tender and delicious meatballs that could not be easier to make! They are ready in minutes with no browning required. This is for a homemade meatball that you cook in sauce inside the pressure cooker. You don't have to use marinara, if you like barbecue or something else better. But the meatballs stay so tender when cooked this way. It is a definite game changer in the way I have started cooking them.
Instant Pot Chicken Thighs - make a complete dinner in the pressure cooker in just minutes! The chicken stays juicy and tender and full of flavor. I used to love chicken and rice when I was a kid. My mom made it with cream of mushroom soup and it was one of my favorite dinners. This is all done in the Instant Pot with no canned soups, but just as good as I remember.
Instant Pot Turkey Chili - It doesn't get any easier than this thick and hearty instant pot chili. Ready in no time and great comfort food for those cold nights. Chili is total comfort food, and it is best if you let it simmer for a long time. With the pressure cooker you get that same taste, with a fraction of the time. I like to use ground turkey, but you can use ground beef if you like it better!
Instant Pot Chicken Wild Rice Soup - make a thick, creamy, and delicious chicken wild rice soup in no time in the instant pot. Super easy to make and the perfect dinner for a cold night. I love this soup and make it often. Wild Rice takes about an hour to cook by itself. So using the Instant Pot, where it cooks with the chicken is perfect. I like to start with frozen chicken, so the rice and chicken get done at the same time. Then you have a perfectly comforting bowl of soup.
Instant Pot White Chicken Chili - a comforting and flavorful white chicken chili that is ready in under 60 minutes! Tender chicken, green chili, corn, and beans all come together for creamy bowl of comfort food! The ingredient list for this recipe looks long, but trust me it is easy. You do have to sauté the onions first, but then the rest gets stirred in and you let it cook together. A recipe anyone can make, and then you can top it with all your favorite toppings.
Instant Pot Beef Stew - The perfect hearty stew for a cold night. Tender beef simmered with celery, onions, carrots, potatoes and red wine. We always had beef stew when I was growing up, but it wasn't my favorite. Now though, it is total comfort food on a cold night. Everything cooks together and absorbs the flavor of the beef broth and red wine. A great way dinner you really can customize to make your own.
Instant Pot Cheesecake - rich and creamy cheesecake that is made in the Instant Pot! So much easier and faster than a traditional cheesecake with all the same taste and texture. Yep, you can make dessert in the Instant Pot. And I think it is easier to make cheesecake in the pressure cooker than the oven. You don't have a water bath, you don't have to leave it in the oven with the door closed or just open to cool to the right temperature, so it doesn't crack. In the Instant Pot it just works!
Instant Pot Vegetable Beef Soup - tender beef and vegetables in a hearty and easy to make soup that the whole family will love! This is one you can really customize to whatever veggies your family likes. You do brown the stew meat first in oil, and then you add the remaining ingredients to cook. So it does have a couple steps, but still so darn easy!
Instant Pot Ribs - super tender, flavorful and delicious baby back ribs in the Instant Pot! Fool-proof method that are ready in just minutes. Fall off the bone ribs can be hard to make. You can use the grill, smoker, oven, and now the pressure cooker to do it! I like the pressure cooker because of how simple it is. You really just add the ribs and the Instant Pot does the work. After the cook, you will want to brush them with sauce and put them under the broiler to crisp them up, so you get the same taste and texture you are used to.
Instant Pot Bolognese - make Italian style bolognese sauce in the Instant Pot. So rich and delicious and ready in a fraction of the traditional recipe! Traditionally this sauce can take hours and hours to make. It Italy they let it simmer all day! But the pressure cooker cuts that time to just minutes, and you still get that rich and delicious flavor. It has become my favorite way to make bolognese, and means we get to have it more often!
